back in 2017, a rumor that hyeri liked girls came out because of her very close friendship with the korean model jayne. she had met jayne back when she was a trainee in 2014 and had been close to her ever since.
a drama youtube channel came up with a theory that the duo were dating after a photo of two girls together, who looked eerily similar to hyeri and jayne, was released. hyeri never talked about rumour and it blew over pretty quickly.

in august 2018, hyeri posted a picture on instagram of her and pentagon's wooseok with a long paragraph for a caption. in the post, she explained that she was in a relationship with wooseok and that she wanted to reveal it before dispatch could.
cube entertainment quickly made a statement that hyeri's claim wasn't true and that wooseok was not in a relationship with her, but the statement was then deleted and cube switched it up, saying that they were indeed together.
