Blood Crown

Light. That's the first thing my eyes catch. When they begin to see what is really happening the happiness soars through me. The floor of the ballroom is marbled with gold as well as stones that I've never seen before, they looks like crystals yet I've never seen such pale colors of crystals before. They are not only light blue but light purple and light pink and it are the pales colors I've ever seen. The floor is only a fraction of what is in front of me and my eyes are everything, trying to soak up everything they can like life depends on it.

The walls are in the most beautiful shade of pink with golden spirals running around and creating beautiful patterns that I may not know what are, yet I can still admire the beauty. It has been decorated with candles in every shape yet they are all in the same color, the white van color that all candles have, though I have seen slightly purple or pink candles that florals have been used to create yet flowers and fire do not match really well and most tend to stay away from these methods.

People dressed in all colors dance around to the beautiful melody that flows gracefully around the room. There are so many people here yet they don't even fill the room. The smile on my face never leaving me as I continue to look around until I see the one that I wish to see. Derick. He too, is looking around and when his head goes over to me, our eyes meet. He is on the other end of the room and when our eyes do meet, he is not slow to begin to walk over to me. I stand there not knowing what to do as my gaze is only on him.

Like we are the only people in the world and nothing else matters. I send a smile his way which he does return and as he walks over to me the music and the people around us all fades away into the distance. It doesn't take long until he stands in front of me. His eyes shining with happiness and beaming with joy as I assume my eyes are. "You came. I was worried you were not coming" He says to me as he stands in front of me.

A giggle escapes past my lips as I lightly shake my head. "I would not miss this for the world" I tell him and the smile on my face grows even brighter. "This is all so beautiful" I tell him and for the first time I look away from him and out into the ballroom, there are many people walking in and there are many people dancing and others chatting. I also notice that by one wall are four thrones and anyone can know that is where the royal family is supposed to me, though cannot see them anywhere, I am sure I could recognize a crown when I see one.

"Where is the royal family? Surly they have made their presences known" I ask him before he could say anything else. I would like to meet the royal family to introduce myself as their newest subject and their kingdom has now become my home as I cannot go back to mine. "You look absolutely stunning, Katherine, like a goddess" He says to me and I feel the heat pool in my cheeks as I become flushed. "Thank you" I tell him and then my eyes search the floor once again.

Looking into his eyes would make me blush even more and my cheeks would become the same color as my lips. "You look handsome" I tell him, when my eyes had looked up from the ground and taken a closer look at his clothes. He wears the darkest shade of blue tunic with a golden ribbon around the waist and a kohl black jacket with hose that has a hint of gold in it. He wears slightly black and slightly dark blue leggings. His clothing suggest he may come from the rich side of the town though his speech does also tell that, I should have known all along.

"Thank you, do you wish to dance?" He asks me and I'm quick to look at him with widen eyes as my mouth drops open. My heart skips a beat at his request. "I do not know this dance and I'm afraid I barely know how to dance at all" I tell him. When I was a child my mother and father would dance along with me yet it were always made up steps and I do not even think I remember them. "You do not dance and you cannot walk in the sun. You, Katherine, are a mystery that I do not understand" He tells me and I can see the glint in his eyes and the smirk on his face.
