You cannot even begin to understand
just how much power you hold,
how intelligent, how creative,
how talented, how beautiful,
you really are-
I believe in you.
You can build empires
with just your mind alone.
You can move mountains and make waves,
I believe that you will change the world.
You will be a target-
because your skin is black.
And you're smart,
And you're sure of yourself,
They see that as a threat.
But you wear your color with pride,
Do not be shaken little brother.
They will throw everything they have at you:
gangs, drugs, violence-
Anything to keep you from winning.
Stay focused little brother.
The first thing they'll do,
is put a ball in your hand,
and tell you that's your only way out
it's not.
Educate yourself.
Get rich and buy back our neighborhoods,
create and cultivate environments,
for other little brothers to thrive.
Teach them that black is powerful.
Teach them to believe in themselves
the way you believe in yourself,
The way I believe in all of them,
Because, I see you in them.
