(2-week time skip)

In Chem, Remus was chewing on a pen while staring blankly at the worksheet in front of him. It was done, but the teacher wouldn't believe that for a second. While glancing around dazedly, Remus noticed someone who always managed to catch his eye.

Logan Picani, a Junior, seemed to have few problems and even fewer friends. The only person, aside from teachers, who talked with him was his brother, Emile. Emile and Logan had transferred to the District when Remus was an 8th grader. Emile was a year younger, and Logan was a year older than him. The nerdy boy just commanded his attention, without even noticing, or so Remus believed. He'd never admit that Logan caught his attention, nope. Not. AT. ALL. The thought made a memory play in the back of his mind, causing the world to fade.

(After the split [Meeting Eth for the first time. Remus is 12])

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" Remus burst through the front door, his disregard for safety causing him to run right into the wall, knocking him off his feet. A light, fluttery laugh came from behind him.

"What was so exciting that you must incapacitate yourself?" Remus smiled broadly.

"I FOUND ONE!" His mother just looked confused.

"Found... One what, honey?"

"One of those people! Soulmates!" Remus showed her the on his forearm, which was now colored in greens and yellows.

"Oh! That's lovely honey! What's their name?"

"Eth!"

"A lovely name. I'm sure you two will get along just fine." The loving gaze and sweet smile made Remus smile as well. The Split, as it'd become known, had been hard on both of them, but they managed together.

"Remus, correct?" Remus snapped out of his daydream, seeing the chocolate/blue eyes of Logan looking back at him.

"Hmm?" Remus smirked. "Who's asking?"

"I am, obviously." The playful smirk dropped from Remus's features.

"What do you want?"

"You were staring at me throughout the class, I merely wished to ascertain why." The room suddenly felt very warm.

"I-umm," At that exact moment, the bell rang. Remus sighed, glad to have a way out until Logan grabbed his right arm.

"I hate to keep you, but I still need my answer." Remus debated about lying to him but knew it was pointless.

"I was admiring you," Remus said, not turning to face him. He slung his bag onto his back and ran, feeling the fears call after him.

WHY DID YOU TELL HIM?!

I wanted to. 🦆 off.

Remus was so wrapped up in his argument with himself, he didn't see the person in front of him.

"Re? You good?"

Remus crashed right into Virgil.

They both fell to the floor, Remus landing on top of him. Upon realizing what had happened, both blushed like madness and untangled their limbs from each other. Virgil regained his feet first, offering a hand to Remus. Accepting the help, Remus wrapped Virgil in a tight hug.

"Woah," Virgil said, wrapping his own arms around him. "What happened?"

"I-I found another one." Remus coughed, tears welling and soaking Virgil's shoulder.

"Another wh- oh." The sound of running feet caught Remus's attention, and he let go of Virgil, spinning to face the direction he'd come. Logan was standing there, flushed and slightly winded.

"Sorry to interrupt you two, but," Remus hung his head, expecting a rejection. "I wished to know, what did you mean?"

"I meant what I said, plain and simple."

"But you must be lying, I'm not someone to admire in any facet." The statement caused Remus to look him in the eye, disbelief clearing his mind of all fear and worry. Even Virgil was looking at Logan like he was crazy.

"Bullshit."

"Pardon?"

"I. Said. Bullshit. You're beautiful. Both in personality and form." The shorter nerdy boy flushed, shock evident in his eyes. Remus turned to leave but was caught yet again by Logan.

"Please." The pleading tone made him turn back. "I-I know you're my soulmate. I'm just..."

"Scared?" Virgil was standing not too far from them, a sympathetic smile on his lips.

"Yes, scared..."

"Well, no need to worry anymore. Come with us." Remus held out his hand, and Logan hesitated before taking it. The slight pins and needles feeling told Remus he was right, Logan was his soulmate. The matching on their left forearms filled in with navy and green.
