Chapter-3

Lilith

"Here, submit it", I hand over the money to Calvin, "and here take some more as a reward for your achievement", I smile at him patting his light brown hair, Calvin and I share the same features he like me has hazel eyes and light brown hair. My baby boy acts so mature than his age but I want him to act his age, enjoy being a child.

"Calvin", Alice comes in yawning, looking like a little angel that she is, she unlike me and Calvin has blue eyes and dark blonde hair, she is six years old, more than me it is Calvin who takes care of her like a mother. "You got up baby", Calvin rushes towards her hugging her and holding her little fingers. "Would you like to eat pancakes ?", I smile at Alice. "Pancakes! yes, yes, thank you sis", she jumps excitedly. I prepare the Pancakes, it is moments like this that fuel me, it is the smiles of both of them due to which I am surviving or I would have been long dead.

"Here, both of you have washed your hands, right?", I arrange the table and they nod their head. I fill their plates and prepare cereal for myself. "Here sis, you can share from me I won't be able to eat two Pancakes alone", Calvin offers, "No, it is good for both of you, kids of growing age, if I eat I will turn fat in a single day", I say to Calvin but some other words from the past ring in my head, "you good for nothing fat bitch remember that food cannot be wasted on you, see how fat you have become, why food should be wasted on an animal like you" I look down upon my half finished cereal and proceed to put in fridge.

"Come Alice, let me get you ready after that you go get ready Calvin", I go to take out her clothes, a pink wollen sweater and a denim, the clothes are so tiny and warm, I always make sure the kids have the best clothes that they don't have to be ashamed of the way they are dressed though the bullying during my middle and high school that I had to face because I wore ugly clothes made me stronger but that is not the way I want them to become strong.

"Alice come on and Calvin make your bag ready and take out your clothes", I shout these kids keep on testing my patience. I quickly bath Alice and get her ready and meanwhile Calvin also gets ready. I cover her in a cap and scarf and direct Calvin to do the same for himself, it is cold outside, "Let's go", I say and quickly put my jacket which of course is too thin for cold and lock the door and pull Alice up on my lap and hold the hand of Calvin which he pulls away muttering that he is too old to hold hands at which Alice laughs. I walk them to the bus stop and wave them bye, it is a relief that Calvin's middle school and Alice's Kindergarten are located on same building.

I hug myself closer it is so cold, I have to get ready today I have a morning shift, though it is an expensive Italian restaurant and as a waitress I get a good sum but if I didn't have to look for kids than it would have been enough but with them being by my side even if I work on weekends, overtime, I am unable to manage and have to depend upon
thievery and previous night was a warning for me, I have to look for a new job but I am only a high school pass out and don't even have a bachelor's degree.

I sigh, suddenly I feel warm arms wrap around me I look at my left to see, it is Andre, smiling stupidly at me, "Are you drunk on a Monday morning?", I ask and she smiles even more, "You want a job", she states, this girl is a witch or something she also has purple like she always knows what I am thinking , "No I am not a witch or maybe I am but the thing is I got a job offer that is offering a good pay and no it is not prostitute, so a client of mine who I don't know why has developed some special kind of interest for me, had called me and said his boos-friend needed a personal secretary and educational qualifications is not the only aspect they are looking for but other things too, I of course won't go for it but I want you to go", she finishes, "What are the other things they are looking for and I have never done a job like that I have done petty jobs like cashier, waitress, cleaner, jobs like this require lots of task like compiling and arranging data and what not, I don't even know what kind of softwares to use", I reason.

"Lilith trust me I didn't even know that it requires compiling and arranging data, so go for it you don't have leave your present job just attend the interview I will get a degree forged for you and even an experience certificate, take them or not your wish but you are going, I will  message you the address and the timings  and will bring something formal for you", she turns away without waiting for a reply and I just sigh, I am only going to embarrass myself by going to the interview but this bitch never gives in.
