Vanessa

Anthony was someone that was very special to me. Anthony just like Callie had met me in 6th grade and we were all really good friends.

Anthony was someone that I cared a lot about and I may or may not started having feeling for him my freshman year of college.

Nobody really knew that I liked him but I didn't want to mess anything up. We were best friends and that's how mostly everyone saw us, besides those who thought we were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Anthony was on the basketball team here at our college and because of that he was pretty popular on campus, and with that came girls. LOTS of girls.

"What's up shorty," he smiled pulling me into a hug.

Shorty. Something he always called me.

He was super handsome and tall. Not to mention he had a sleeve of dope tattoos.

He actually was the reason I had a few tattoos of my own.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm average height Tony."

Sad to say I'm 5'3 and he's 6'2.

I was the only person that really called him that. I just called him that out of nowhere in high school and it just stuck. He mostly goes by Tony or Ant.

He just laughed as he wrapped his arm around me and we walked up to the register to order breakfast.

"Hey guys," Christa the employee spoke.

Let's just call us regulars because we come here pretty often.

"Hey Christa. How you doing girl?" I smiled as I checked the time on my watch and locked eyes with her.

She gave me a smile. "I'm good how about you and Tony."

Tony gave her a smile as he looked into his pocket for something.

"Are you guys getting the usual?"

I nodded and I reached into my bag for my wallet and Anthony had already beat me to it handing Christa his card.

I gave him a glare.

He knows I hate when other people pay for me.

Christa gave Anthony the receipt and we went to find a booth for us to sit in while we waited for our order.

"So we have a game tomorrow night, and you know I need my good luck charm right?" he smiled placing his phone down giving me his undivided attention.

As I was about to speak Anthony's name got called for our food and he brought them back to our booth as I pulled out one of my notebooks finishing some notes from an earlier class.

I smiled as he slid me my usual Strawberry Banana smoothie with a croissant.

He had his usual breakfast sandwich with a mixed-berry yogurt drink.

"Depending on my work schedule we'll see if I can make your game or not," I said teasing him.

Anthony knows I would never miss one of his basketball games. Safe to say I have been to every home and away game to support him because I know basketball is one of the most important things to him.

He stared at me and I laughed.

"You know I'm just messin' when have I ever missed one of your games Tony?"

He squinted his eyes before picking his phone up. "True. So how was your weekend. Sucks I didn't get to come over with D but I had plans."

I tried hard to not roll my eyes at his statement.

I just know those "plans" consisted of him being with another girl and it was most likely Ashley.

Ashley wasn't Anthony's girlfriend that I knew of but I did know that they tend to hook up a lot and she's one of the cheerleaders at our college.

She's not one of my favorite people here I can admit that. She thinks just because she is captain of the cheerleading team she can be a bitch to everyone around her. I honestly don't know why or how her and Anthony even came about.

I nodded. "Its cool. We'll make time for each other right?"

He grabbed my hand from across the table. "You know it shorty."

I smiled rolling my eyes as I pulled my hand back and we continued to have small talk. Before I knew it was time for my next class.

After my last class of the day I had decided to go back home and get started on homework before I could actually relax.

I don't know about other people but I can't just do homework and relax because the two just doesn't work for me. AT ALL.

Soon after the short drive from campus I got home and placed my bag on the counter.

I walked around to the fridge to grab a bottle of Lipton Green Tea and get started on my homework from one of my Financing classes.

I honestly regret ever being a Criminal Justice and Law Major when it comes to these terrible homework assignments.

Once I finished my homework I put everything in my bag leaving it there before heading upstairs.

I heard a knock on the door before my foot touched the first stair.

I groaned going towards the door and opening it.

"Vanessa! Hey girl!" Piper exclaimed throwing her arms around me and pulling me into a hug.

I laughed.

Piper was one of the most energetic people I know.  She was one of the cool white girls that wasn't stuck up and bitchy.  She's also on the cheerleading team with Ashley. We've known each other since high school, and she's been friends with all of us ever since.

"What are you doing here," I chuckled as I ushered her to come in.

She paused looking up from her phone. "Love the new place. Why haven't I been invited over?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Piper the place isn't new we've been here since summer remember. Also, I did invite you. You just have been pretty busy with Justin and cheerleading  haven't you," I smirked mentioning her new boyfriend.

She blushed. "Besides the point. Callie said you'd be home so I came over to ask if you're going to the party tomorrow night."

What party?

"I haven't heard anything about a party."

She took a seat at one of the island chairs. "This is what happens when you don't show up to SGU meetings Vanessa."

I laughed. "Hey its not my fault this year has been busy for me. With this new job, and my new internship, and me taking REAL classes that deal with my major I explained to Brian I wouldn't be able to make it to every meeting Pipe."

She nodded her head in understanding.

"I get you. Well you should come it's almost like a late back to school party. The whole crew will be there. You have to."

I sighed as I tried to look away from her puppy dog eyes.

"Don't do that to me. Fine. I'll go but only because I haven't been out in ages and it is Friday."

She smiled in triumph.

"Ha! I told Callie I could convince you. Well we can all get ready together. Sound good?"

I gave her a crooked smile. "I mean who else would help me find the perfect outfit?"

She let out a laugh and stood back up. "Good. I'll see you tomorrow night."

I just hoped this party wouldn't get too crazy like this last one.
