It was rather late on a Tuesday night, however Annabelle or Finn would not be working tomorrow and they decided on a date night. Annabelle arrived back at the flat around 11 and everything was peaceful. Both of her roommates were in their separate rooms, probably either sleeping or studying. Something Annabelle wished she could be doing.

Annabelle did not want to break the silence, so she took her wedges off her feet and laid them down  in front of the door. She's starving for someone that ate just hours ago when Finn had taken her out for a movie. Which was quite a let down for a girl that spent a long time fretting over her outfit, hair and makeup. It's not like Finn had noticed, though.

With a grasp of the fridge door, she pulled out a container of frozen berries and a bottle of water. Annabelle tried her best to quietly walk to the table, however a knock came pounding in on the door and she thought it was her footsteps. What a relief that it was the door. She began to rush over to the front door.

Before she even had the chance to reach the door, in came Michael holding his coat tightly to his chest and snowflakes placed in his hair. Annabelle was surprised, although pleased to see her best friend once again after a three day period. They may be old enough to survive without each other, but Annabelle hated the random short time periods they would go without communicating sometimes. She did expect it after what Michael had said on Saturday afternoon. Annabelle did not want to be the one to call Michael first and deep down she knew he would come around first.

"Is this a bad time?"Michael breathes out. He spoke very loudly and Annabelle awaited for her roommates to come complaining anytime soon. "Because I should have called, I know."

Annabelle shook her head. "No, it's alright. Your welcome to stay, I was just fetching myself a snack.  Do you want anything?"

They started to walk into the kitchen/living room area and Michael hung up his chilly jacket. Michael grabbed a blackberry from the container and plopped it into his mouth. "Mmm.. nah I'm good with snacking on your berries."

A giggle escaped from Annabelle's lips. She felt the need to give Michael a playful hit, however stopped herself. "Well, I guess if you must." Annabelle paused to chew up a blueberry. Then continues, "So, what brings you here at almost midnight?"

Michael flopped down unto the chair across from Annabelle at the table. He had a blanket wrapped around his shoulders to try to warm up from being outside for such a long period of time. "Luke thought it would be a good idea to play a song or two outside to maybe gain some cash, however a couple songs turned into several songs. I ended up ditching them two hours later because I needed to see my best friend again."

She was touched with Michael's words and could not fight back the smile. Although since Saturday she always wonders if what Michael says is true or not. Of course they are, Annabelle thinks. It does not take a genuis to see the twinkle in the eye when Michael is around with Annabelle. He has been telling Annabelle since the first year they've known each other that she's special to him. And not the best friend sorta way.

Annabelle just smiled sadly and took a drink of her water. She was speechless. Michael always finds a way to squeeze the topic into their conversations and it drives Annabelle up the wall. Not really, of course. She loved Michael, just not the way Michael loves her and it breaks her heart to think about it. One of the many reasons why she wished Michael would move on and find someone else to be dear to his heart. It never came across Annabelle's mind that she would leave Finn anytime soon.
