Chapter 9 Bonfire

I decided to wear my hair down, for a wet messy done look. I wanted to be more casual, so I put on some brown cargo pants and a nice blue muscle shirt, with some black and blue Nike's. I am going to spend my time with Toya and I am not going to let Brad get in my way. Before I walked out the door I said a quick prayer, God please show me a sign that this is who you have for me, Amen.

I have not been the same since my parents died. We were never a really religious family, but mom made us read the bible every day, and pray every night. She always said, "We all need God's help". We never went to church, or watched spiritual television. But I always knew I needed God, especially with wanting to be with someone who really knows him.

I strolled out to the bonfire looking for my target, I was a little early and she did not come right into view. So I did some networking and working the crowd. Finally there she was looking like an angel, but to my discontentment her and Brad were arm and arm. Cyn looked at me with a knowing look, I nodded knowing what she was meaning. Cyn and I are so close, I knew she meant for me to go over there. So with Sis backing me I made my way over.

"Hi Toya", I said as I nodded to Brad.

He nodded in return. Then he looked between Toya and I and his brow furrowed.

But Toya noticed quickly, and said, "Brad could you get me something to drink please". Brad replied, "Sure Babe".

I looked into Toya's eyes, she is so beautiful, but what moved me most is that she was smiling. "Honey you really should smile more often", I said in her ear in a low whisper. She immediately started blushing, "I want to thank you Axel, deciding to open up is turning out to be the best decision I've made in a while".

With that Brad comes back with drinks, and I excuse myself. The night was amazing, we had flamethrowers come to the bonfire. They gave a excerating everyone was impressed. The food was amazing, I dug into the ribs, and green, and potato salad. I love soul food. I had two bowls of mac and cheese. There was a giant cake that looked like a roaring fire. Cyn really out did herself, with this event. I am so proud of her, and to top it all off she had a nice jazz band perform. Everyone pulled out their blankets, and started coupling off or grouping together. I was alone, with no chance of getting close to Toya with Brad around.

Finally the event was over, and I thought here's my chance. I walked up to Toya and asked her if I could walk her to her room, to discuss something privately. She smiled as we began to walk. Once we were away from the crowd, I grabbed her hand. Her hands were so soft, and small compared to my big hands and all I wanted to do was protect her, hold her, kiss her.

"How serious are you and Brad?"

"Well, we are just friends, he wants to be more but I'm not sure", she said shyly. I lifted her chin with my finger, so she would look me in the face and said; "Do I have anything to do with your indecision?" Her eyes sparkling as she nodded her head. I couldn't help myself any longer, I pulled her close and kissed her slowly, our tongues danced together. She began to let her guard down and kissed me deeply. I wanted her so bad, but something was telling me to back off. So I pulled away, before I got a hard on bursting through my pants. We were both panting, and all I could say was, "Good Night". Yes, I thought to myself, she is definitely the one.
