Flower Gleam and Glow

Mari smiled in serenity as she watered the plants. She decided since she was alone to let her powers help out a bit. She began to sing a little melody she had heard in a movie.

Flower gleam and glow

Let your power shine...

Make the clock reverse...

As she sang some of the smaller and weaker flowers began to perk up.

Bring back what once was mine...

Heal what has been hurt...

Change the fate's design...

Save what has been lost...

As she repeated the song, she was unaware that she had an audience.

A few minutes before

Legoshi had was still wondering how he got dragged into this. He and Kibi were told to go to the gardening club to get some roses to decorate the doors to the theater. He really didn't want to go and risk scaring anyone on the garden club, since it was said to be run by herbivores. Just as he was about to open the door to the club, a familiar scent attacked his nose. It was cherry blossoms.

'No, it can't be.' He began to panic, but was stopped when he heard singing. The voice was so angelic.

"Is that coming from in there?" Kibi asked.

Legoshi shrugged and shakily opened the door. Before him stood the one person he was hoping to avoid for a while, his guilt began to grow in his chest.

He swore his heart stopped when his eyes locked with the brightest blue eyes he had ever seen.

Present

As Mari was about to start another verse of the song, she was alerted by the door being opened. There stood a large gray wolf and an anteater. "Hi, can I help you guys?" 

Legoshi wanted nothing more than to leave, especially when he saw the bandage on her arm. The shame he felt was too much to bear.

"Actually, I just remembered that I forgot something." Kibi said before he could make an excuse. "You can take of this, right Legoshi?"

"What, seriously?!" He whisper-yelled. 

"I'll buy you antshake or something, sorry." Kibi said and slammed the door, leaving just the wolf and the human.

"O-kay, that was weird." Mari said and set down her bottle of water. "So, is there anything I can help you with?"

Legoshi could hardly form the right words. He hesitantly walked up to her and handed her the plans he was given. As she looked at them, he noticed how much shorter she was than him, he would guess around Jack's height.

"So you need mostly roses?" She asked as she looked up at him. "There are quite a few here to choose from, take a look around if you like."

"O-okay." He said and followed her.

"So, you're in the drama club?" She asked

"Um, yeah. I work backstage. We need the roses to decorate the hall for the play."

'Is the guy that Jack was talking about? Maybe I should get to know him'

"Well, what a coincidence, starting tomorrow I'll be part of the drama club as well." She said.

Legoshi felt his heart stop. 

'She's the new member I heard Sanu mentioned?!'

 "And since I'm also part of the gardening club, I can help with the roses too. But, under one condition." She said as she looked up at him.

"C-Condition." He said as he looked away nervously.

"Yep, ya see, we can't just give them away for free. These flowers are like children to us. So," Mari pointed to some large pots. "Haru stuck me with all the work today and I could really use some help. Could you help me carry those to the back?"

"U-um, sure...What? Whoa!" Legoshi freaked for moment at she tucked his tail into his suspenders.

"Don't want that knocking over anything now." She giggled then grabbed a pot and motioning for him to do the same. It was quiet for before she spoke again.

"So, what year are you?"

"Second year, and you?"

"The same." 

'So we're in the same! Interesting.' "You mentioned another member, are you two the only ones?"

"Yeah, I just joined but I'm enjoying it already." As she set her pot down, her bandaged arm rubbed against a pot next to it, causing her to flinch in pain. Legoshi's gaze went to her arm.

"Um..." No, don't ask.

"What...happened to it? Y-Your arm, I mean?" He asked but mentally hit himself for being stupid and asking at all.

"Oh, this." She said as she rubbed away the soreness. "Um, cut it trying to move some stuff into my dorm yesterday. It's nothing really." She said as she scratched her cheek.

"Huh? Nothing?" He asked. 

"Yeah, a small scratch doesn't bother me." She smiled at him in reassurance.

'Her smile...it's so...pretty.'

"Um, I was wondering, was that you singing earlier?"  Mari blushed when she realized that she had been heard.

"U-Uh, yeah. Sorry if it was weird."

"No, not at all! It was really nice." Nice? I thought it was an angel at first.

"Well, anyways, thanks for helping with moving the plants. This way they can get more sunlight. Now that I'm done, we should go tell Haru. Follow me!" She said and grabbed his hand.

"Oh, n-no. I'm good here." But Mari just pulled him along.

"Club hour ends soon and I need to change. You'll have tell Haru about the roses, plus it's too hot to stay out here." She pulled him to the clubhouse. Haru was inside, reading a book.  "Hey Haru, I finished everything you said to." She motioned to Legoshi. "He helped move some plants, so that should cover the roses he needs. Help him while I go change." Mari grabbed her bag and went to change in the bathroom nearby.

'Wait. I wanted to talk to you more.' Legoshi thought as he watched her disappear.

Haru put her book down and turned to the wolf. "Well, thank you for your help. Let me buy you dinner as a reward." She offered.

"No...um, hold on." He said as he looked back where Mari left to. 'I just wanted to talk to her...I don't even know her name.'

"Um..." 'Of all things, I should have asked for her name first.' Legoshi was so lost in thought that he didn't Haru getting undressed. When he opened his eyes, Haru stood before him in her underwear. "Huh?" She began to approach him.

"Don't worry. Even if you're a bit rough, I'll try to enjoy it." She said as he looked at her confused.
