"...and then i said, 'from my experience, the holding of an erection is far more successful in the hands of a homo sapien female.'"

everyone laughed at brad's joke except me. my cheek rested on my hand that was in fist. staring out at nothing with only one thought in my head; getting the fuck outta here.

"y/n?"

my eyes turned over to dina's. everyone at the table was looking at me confused "are you okay or you got something on your mind?" mercedes nodded. "yeah, you're usually making more jokes than brad."

i shook my head. "i'm fine." they all turned back and continued to talk.

"funny joke, babe." dina spoke towards brad. ricky smirked and said "fire crotch didn't seem to think that." that made dina look over at him. "hey, that's my friend you're talking about." which ricky just put his hands up in defense.

so, here i was. sitting at the 'popular' table at lunch because apparently i am. but it's only because of dina. she's dating bradley lewis so that makes her popular, and because i'm one of her best friends i am too. but i don't always feel like it.

i like listening to nirvana and bloodwitch, they don't. i like to skate, they don't. all they do is talk about themselves and about how popular and hot they are. all except dina.

dina was new at the beginning of the year and i showed her around the school and the town. ever since, we've been tight. speaking of which, she turned over to me and asked "you going to the diner after school with me, brad, and syd?"

syd; she lived close to me. we've never really talked before i sometimes i go to the veterinarian where my mom works and her brother liam's hedgehog get checked up on. sydney shows up sometimes but it's not like we talk to each other.

i didn't really want to go, not because there's something wrong with them but i just wanted to practice on my skating. still, the way dina smiled over at me i couldn't say no. so, a small smile went on my face and said. "of course."

"whaddya mean i can't go to the diner?" i asked one the phone with my mom.

i could hear her sigh on the phone. "there's a surprise for you at home. trust me, you'll rather have that then getting some food at the diner." and before i could say another word she hung up making me groan and turn over to dina. "i'm guessing she said no?"

i sighed and stuffed my hands in my sweat pockets. "you're guessing right. she said there's some 'surprise' waiting for me at home. whatever that means."

dina shrugged her shoulders. "maybe it's a good surprise?" which when she said it sounded my more a question.

"i dunno, maybe."

the front doors opened and both of us dart our eyes over to see syd come out and immediately looked over at her and grin. "hey, dina." she turned at me. "hey, y/n."

a half smile went on quickly before i told them that "i have to go, i'll see y'all around." they both said bye as i started to skate down the street and all the way home.

i walked into the house and yelled "mom, i'm home." kicking my shoes off at the door and setting my backpack down.

"guess whose home from rehab?"

my eyes looked up and there stood in front of me was jenny.

jenny is my best friend. and while brad, ricky, and dina don't really like her because she gives zero fucks, that's exactly while i like her. and yeah, sometimes she can be a little much but i think she's such a badass.

she had a grin on her face and her arms were open for a hug. i couldn't believe it, jenny was really here. "holy crap!" i ran towards her and hugged her tight.  she smiled. "hey, bitch."

"language!" my mom yelled from the kitchen. jenny smirked and pulled away from me and turned over to her. "sorry 'bout that, ms. l/n." she turned back at me. "your room?"

i giggled and bite my lip that had a smile.

"you read my mind."
