The first thing I see is a head of fiery red hair, and automatically relief spreads throughout my body. And then I see Belle and Billy.
"What are they doing here?" I ask as I walk into the diner, not even bothering to acknowledge the two uninvited people.
Juliette shrugs. "They wanted to hang out. I figured that we weren't going to be doing anything super important."
I stare at her in disbelief. Did she not sense the important-ness in my phone call? "Jules, this is important," I say, holding up the shoe box.
Her hazel eyes widen. "Is that...?"
I nod. "Yeah. It is."
Together we both look over at Belle and Billy, who smile uncomfortably. Jules and I exchange a look and she nods to confirm our silent plan. "Hey, B?"
Belle nods enthusiastically. "Yeah?"
Juliette pulls her away from Billy and gestures for me to engage in their conversation. "Rory and I have something to do so is it okay if I cancel?"
She just blinks. "What about me and Billy? What are we supposed to do now?"
"You guys can still hang out here, grab a bite to eat. You can finally have you're first date," Jules smiles, squeezing her shoulder.
Belle shakes her head violently. "What?" She scream-whispers, glancing over at Billy frantically. "You can't leave us alone."
I sigh. "Please, Belle. This is important. Can't you just do this one thing for me?"
She furrows her brows in frustration and begins to twirl a strand of chocolate hair around her finger. "Okay, but not for a long time. I'll probably mess up."
Juliette shakes her head. "You can't mess up. You guys will have fun."
I glance at my watch and then at the address on the letter. "We better get going," I whisper to my best friend.
She nods. "Okay. Bye Belle, have fun."
Belle waves at us as we exit the diner, then slowly turns towards Billy who smiles shyly.
Jules and I laugh as the door closes behind us. "She's so funny," she snickers, jingling her keys in her pockets as we jog to her car.
The dark sky hangs above us like a chandelier, the stars each making up a different part, making it all the more beautiful.
"Are we going to see Jacob?" She looks at me before getting into the car, not even flinching like she normally would as a powerful gust of wind pulls at us.
I stay silent for a few moments, replaying the possible situation through my mind for the millionth time that day. "If everything works out as planned, then yes.
The ring in my pocket digs into my skin as I sit in her car, but I don't care. Pretty soon it would be in its rightful place.
