Auden's POV

I glanced over and noticed Elody pulling the gun into her hands.

"Elody?" I asked her, which got our parents attention. They looked up too.

"What are you doing?" My mother asked Elody, her voice filling with panic.

"Why does it feel so good in my hands?" Elody asked quietly, her eyes starting to well with tears.

"What?" Mom asked her.

Elody rushed up to me, the gun still in her grasp. "Audie, why does it feel so good in my hands?" She asked me, her head tilted up at me since I was slightly taller.

"El, you need to put down the gun, okay?" I bargained with her.

"But it feels so cold and calm. I don't know why I feel like this and I'm scared." She collapsed to her knees. "I'm scared, Auden." She sobbed, her arms locking around my legs. The gun was pressed against my calf, still in her hands.

"Elody, darling, give me the gun." My mother said. She was on Elody's level too. Elody unhooked her arms from around me and I thought she was going to give mom the gun. Instead she pointed it at our mother's head.

"Mama, I'm scared. It feels so nice to hold." My twin sobbed. I could feel our father pulling me away from this scene. I thought it was so he could have me leave, but instead he got on Elody's level too.

"Both of you, get out of here." He told me and my mother. "I need to talk to Elody alone." He added. My mother clumsily stood up as Elody's hand fell limp again. My mother turned to me and grabbed my hand, leading me out of the room.

Before I left, I looked at Elody and tried to send her a mental message.
