Part Nine: A Much Needed Distraction
The group sat at their usual lunch table, chattering away at what their individual weekends would consist of. Y/n sat with her head in her hand as she ate her bowl of fries, a small pout on her lips. She thought she would have been able to confess and end the game entirely, even though the game ended long ago like Taehyung had said.
"I have news!" Lia squealed as she ran through the cafeteria, dodging the other dining benches, waving her phone in the air. The sight brought a small smile to Y/n's lips.
"Did you have to shout that from the other side of the canteen?" Yoongi scolded, leaning on the table. Lia rolled her eyes as she sat down next to Seulgi.
"Shush."
"So..." Hoseok drew out, his eyes widening at the blonde who sat on the other end of the table.
"So what?" She responded causing the group to groan.
"Airhead." Jimin muttered.
"The news, Lia. What's the news?" Ryujin breathed out, motioning her hand to get the young girl to speak.
"Oh! Guess who just got us invited to Choi Hyunjae's party tonight!" Lia announced, the group's atmosphere changing immediately at the revelation.
"How the fuck did you manage that?" Jungkook questioned, his mouth agape.
"Well, let's just say, I'm an amazing flirt." Lia joked, flipping her hair behind her shoulder. Yoongi suddenly stiffened, his face turning stony.
"I'll text you guys the details, but we all have to go!"
The group agreed, changing the conversation to what the plans were for the evening. Ryujin looked over at Y/n who was still focused on her bowl of fries, worried about her best friend.
"I'm going to my locker, I need to get my homework for our free period. Y/n, didn't you say your homework was in your locker too?" The brown haired girl spoke, gaining Y/n's attention as well as everyone else's.
"Uh, yeah. I'll go with you." The black haired girl agreed, standing up. As she did so, she slid her food towards Jungkook who was sitting next to her. "You can finish them."
Walking out of the cafeteria, Ryujin and Y/n caught sight of Soomin who was sitting with some random girls, glaring at the two of them.
"Jeez, I wouldn't be surprised if she jumps you one day, you know?" Ryujin joked. Y/n chuckled.
"Let her."
"How are you feeling?" The brown haired girl asked as she weaved in and out of various students.
"Like shit. It just hurts that it happened, you know? Regardless of whether it was planned or not." Y/n replied. Ryujin nodded and decided to try and liven her up a bit.
"Well at least we have that party tonight. We all deserve to have fun after everything that's happened."
"Yeah, I guess so." Y/n shrugged as they reached their lockers.
"It'll be a much needed distraction for you, babe. Don't worry." Ryujin smiled, rubbing Y/n's back.
~~~
"What the fuck am I going to wear?!" Y/n exclaimed as she threw herself onto her bed, bouncing Seulgi off the end. As soon as the four girls got to Y/n's house, they started drinking in the hopes that they'd be on a good level once they reached the party.
"Let me find something... again." Seulgi sighed, pushing herself off the ground and heading to the closet.
Lia was doing her makeup in the big floor-to-ceiling mirror that adorned the wall opposite Y/n's bed. Ryujin was curling her hair using the small mirror that was placed on the desk, her arms intertwining in an odd shape in order to get the perfect curls.
"What about this?" Seulgi suggested, emerging with a black skater dress that Y/n had bought when she was fourteen. The b;ack haired girl stared at her friend blankly.
"Please say that's supposed to be a joke."
"Right." Seulgi mumbled as Ryujin chuckled at the exchange. A few minutes passed before Seulgi returned.
"This."
The tall girl was holding up a red, satin co-ord that consisted of a bralette and a tight mini skirt. The three girls all stared at the outfit in shock.
"If you don't wear that, you're an idiot." Lia stated, turning round to look at Y/n.
"I agree. Show Taehyung what he's missing. Bet Soomin couldn't pull that off." Ryujin joined in.
"Soomin couldn't pull off turning up to the party, let alone wearing something as hot as this." Seulgi spoke distastefully, crossing the room and shoving the hanger in Y/n's face.
"Go change. I need to start my makeup."
Looking at her reflection in the bathroom, Y/n's eyes widened as she observed how the co-ord presented her figure. She looked stunning. How she had never worn this before baffled the girl, she should wear it more often.
Stepping into the room, the three girls stared at Y/n, stunned.
"Okay, it's official, I'm a lesbian." Lia stated, dropping her hairbrush. Seulgi laughed, opening up space beside her for Y/n to start getting ready.
"You ready to see Tae tonight?" Ryujin questioned, biting her lip. Y/n sighed.
"I'm going to have to get over it at some point. He just really hurt me. But I'll try and see what he has to say."
"Good, our group has been through way too much to start cracking." Seulgi commented as she contoured her cheeks.
Y/n knew she was right. The eleven of them had been friends since they started education and even though they had their ups and downs, they always came back together. So maybe this was just a down period, and everything was going to turn out okay in the end. But the trust that Taehyung lost from Y/n would take a while to build again. But for now, all Y/n could do was hope and pray that the party would go smoothly, with as less drama as possible.
