11: Late Nights
"Hey." Y/n greeted sheepishly, a tight smile on her face. Taehyung turned his face to meet hers briefly before focusing his gaze back on the starry sky.
"Hey."
A few minutes passed, an awkward silence flowing between them.
"So," Y/n hummed. "Where's your girlfriend?" She joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Taehyung winced as he played with his hands.
"Last time I checked, she was sitting right next to me." He replied dryly, not finding the situation humorous.
Y/n shook her head.
"Don't mock me, Taehyung. You know I'm done playing that game."
"Come on, Y/n. I've said it before, we both know the game ended long ago."
Another minute passed.
"Do you like her?" Y/n blurted, wanting to end this situation once and for all.
"What?" Taehyung frowned, confused at her outburst, turning to face the girl next to her.
"Soomin. Do you like her?"
The boy scoffed, looking away as he shook his head.
"You're so oblivious." He muttered.
"But-"
"But nothing, Sweetheart. I've only ever seen her as a friend, if that, and I made that clear right after you found her kissing me." Taehyung took a breath. "What you didn't see, and didn't let me explain, was that I pushed her off me as soon as I clocked onto what was happening. I was waiting for you, actually. I sent Jimin and Jungkook to go get you so I could talk to you, but Soomin appeared and started talking to me about something I couldn't care less about. Before I knew it, she was kissing me."
Y/n felt her heart drop. She really had been wrong all this time.
"That's when you came." Taehyung continued. "After that happened, I shut her off completely. I blocked her number, avoided her at school. All I could focus on was trying to get you back, but Soomin even managed to mess that up for me." He scoffed, fixing his gaze on the pool in front of him.
"So you really don't like her?" Y/n pushed, causing Taehyung to roll his eyes.
"How could I when I've already fallen for someone else?" Taehyung swung his head to look at the young girl once more, his brown eyes staring into her dark ones. Goosebumps rose on her skin. She couldn't move. She didn't know what to say. Taehyung shifted his position so now his whole body was facing Y/n.
"I like you, Y/n. I have done since we started this whole thing. Possibly even before, I don't know. And I know you like me too." He announced.
"Ha, good joke. I don't like you." Y/n scoffed, looking away, hiding her blush.
"Oh no? Then why did you keep storming out every time you saw me with Soomin? Why do I always see you looking around you whenever we're in a group setting, and once your eyes settle on mine, you break out into a massive smile and blush?" Taehyung smirked.
"I-"
A rustling from the bushes behind them caught the two teenagers' attention.
"Has he done it already?" Jungkook whispered loudly, giving away his hiding spot.
"Will you shut up?" Jin hushed aggressively.
"Well it's not my fault I can't see, your shoulders take up so much room, my god!"
"You know we can see and hear you, right?" Y/n laughed, causing the boys to suddenly stop their antics, looking up at the two lovers.
Suddenly, Namjoon burst through the door, collecting the two boys by their collars, dragging them back inside.
"So did he do it or not?" Jungkook asked again, his voice fading the further away he was pulled.
The couple laughed at the sight before silence settled around them once more, their eyes locking on to one another.
"It's okay, Y/n." Taehyung reassured, a smile growing on his face.
"I'm not good at this, Tae. Pretending is fine, but actually admitting that I like you is something I've never done before." Y/n explained, playing with the rings that lined her fingers.
"Looks like you just did, Sweetheart."
And suddenly, it was as if the world stopped for a moment. Taehyung leaned in ever so slowly, as though he was scared that if he moved too quickly, she'd run away. And when he was close enough, Y/n closed the gap, pressing her lips to his soft ones. The kiss was slow and meaningful; it conveyed every word they wished to express without the stress of having to find the right ones. Taehyung soon broke the kiss, resting his forehead on hers.
A series of cheers could be heard from the kitchen area, and when the two looked over to find the source of the noise, their friends were all huddled together eagerly watching, supporting the love story that was taking place before them. Taehyung and Y/n broke out into laughter yet again, a rare sense of euphoria befalling the young couple.
"Does this mean I beat the Kim Taehyung at his own game?" Y/n teased as she turned to look at the male.
"Yeah, I guess it does." He shrugged, the same smile from earlier still planted on his face.
"Yes!" Y/n cheered, pumping her fist in the air, laughing afterwards with her whole chest as she looked up towards the sky.
Taehyung could only sit back and watch the girl he loved start to glow with happiness which was a sight he never thought he'd see. His heartstrings pulled as he observed Y/n in adoration, never wanting this moment to end. He wanted to stay in this loop for the rest of his life. The feeling that he felt with Y/n was something he wanted to hold onto for as long as fate allowed, and he prayed to god that it was until he died, and if not, then eternally.
