Today was not one of my best days. It seemed to last forever, and it drained me completely. I got in the shower as soon as I could. The hot water steamed up my small bathroom as I quickly cleaned myself. But even after I was clean, I couldn't find it in me to get out. Audible sobs escaped my lips, as I stared down the drain until the water ran cold. I eventually got out, and got some pajamas on. I was about to go right to bed, when a knock came on my door. I quickly wiped traces of any tears on my cheeks before opening it. There stood my neighbor Val, in his pajamas. I gave him a quizical look as well as a small smile.
"Hi Val. How goes it?" I asked.
"It goes. Look uh, I don't want to be intrusive, but I could hear you crying from my room. Are you good?" He asked. I bit my lip as tears threatened to spill at the sound of the question. Instead of pressing for an answer, he pulled me into a tight hug, holding me close as I sobbed into his chest.
"It's okay baby you don't have to tell me." He whispered in my ear as he ran his fingers through my hair. He ended up staying in my apartment for the night. He made me hot chocolate, and we watched some of my favorite movies as we cuddled on the couch until we both passed out.
