"Are you ready to walk down to the bus?" Kelley asked her roommate Mal before stealing a bite of the younger players granola bar.

" You're such a thief but yeah I'm ready let me just throw a hoodie on before we have to leave" the younger forward replied before walking to her suit case and throwing on a grey oversized hoodie. As they were leaving their room they ran into Alex and Allie, who were also roomates.

"Y'all ready for practice today?" teased Alex. They were all actually excited for practice today. Earlier in the day they had done all of their conditioning with Dawn so tonight's practice would mainly consist of different scrimmages.

In the lobby, Mal gave a small hug to Tobin and Christen, two people she considered family, when they finally entered the lobby. Christen rested her head on the young girls head for a minute before turning to ask her a question.

"Since your 20th birthday is in a week and things will be very hectic with the tournament of nations coming up, do you want to go to dinner with us, Kelley, Alex, Ashlynn, and Ali tomorrow night? I know this really cool place near the beach if you're interested!" Christen asked with a smile across her face when she asked the girl.

"Oh my gosh, yes I would love to!" Mal replied before everyone started walking towards the bus.

"We knew you would say yes! Mal Pal never turns down food" Tobin teased before earning herself a punch to the arm from Mal.

"Save it for the field you kids" Christen joked before they all boarded the bus to practice.

So far the practice had been as expected, a scrimmage. Mal was placed on the opposite team as Christen but at least she had Tobin on her team. Her team was currently up 2-1 with  17 minutes left on the practice clock. However, Mal's team was looking to advance the lead even more. The chance came when she was serviced a ball up the left side of the field from a pass by Ali.

As a midfielder, she took off down the field. The only person in that area of the field that could actually cut her off was Christen. As Mal ran down the sideline, Christen ran directly at Mal  from the side and went to kick the ball out of Mal's possession.

As she did this, her legs unexpectedly got tangled up in the younger players. The two players went down hard with Christen landed on top. Christen recalled hearing a popping noise when she hit the ground. She was surprised when she realized that the noise had not come from her. She rolled off of Mal too see the girl lying on the ground with her face scrunched in pain. Only then did she see her reach down and grab her knee and roll to her side for Christen to see the girls knee very much out of place.

"Oh my god Mal" was all Christen was able to get out before dropping to the ground to help the girl.

"I can't breath- it hurts- oh my god it hurts" Mal was able to get out before she let out a sob. At this point, Alex and Carli were just arriving to the scene at hand. Christen felt overwhelmed and stood up and took two steps away before bumping into Tobin.

"Hey- what's wrong are you hurt?" Tobin asked her. Christen shook her head no before she let out a sob. Tobin pulled her in close when she realized that Christen was feeling guilty for hurting Mal. Julie rubbed Christens back as she cried. Tobin and Julie decided to walk Christen away from the overwhelming scene and have her sit on the sidelines and get water. As they were walking to the sidelines the medical trainers ran past them to get to Mal.

Mal was now in a full on hysteria because of the pain. Alex had sat on the ground and pulled the girls head onto her lap and Carli squatted on the ground and held both of her hands in an attempt to soothe the girl. Ali had ran off to grab Mal's water.
