Jayden's POV

I slid out of bed with a yawn as I ran my fingers through my messy hair, smiling suddenly as I thought how Cadence was assigned my partner. I checked my phone and was surprised to see a text from Cadence, asking if it would be okay to work on the project today so we could get ahead since it was the weekend. Texting him back in a hurry that I would like to, I clumsily threw on a pair of blue jeans and a button-up shirt. Cadence texted back pretty fast with his address, telling me to come over now if I wanted to or that we could work on a time for later. Between texting and fixing my hair, I texted him that now would be fine and he replied with a an "alright" and a big smiley face. I rubbed my hands over my face as a blush broke out "this is really happening, oh my God...".

I rang the doorbell with a soft hum, rocking on my heels as I waited, feeling my heart suddenly thump as the door swung open. A women was at the door, who I had assumed to be Cadence's mother, who invited me in warmly and offered me a snack. I took the offer and she handed me a plate of cookies with a big smile. "Take those upstairs with you so you and Cadence can share, okay sweetie? Oh! And please, call me Sharron. We aren't a very formal household" she gave a soft laugh and I smiled in reply with a nod, glancing at the stairs as I heard steps. Cadence looked at me as he walked down, smiling with a wave. "Hey Jay, sorry I didn't get the door, I was getting... um... ready!" he rubbed the back of his neck, seeming a bit embarrassed. His mom, Sharron, nudged me playfully as she said "meaning he was cleaning his mess of a room!". Cadence playfully made a face at his mom and she made one back and they both laughed while I gave an amused smile. He took the plate of cookies from me carefully and nodded his head toward the stairs with a soft smile. "Follow me to my room, okay Jay" I nodded, hiding my excitement as I followed him upstairs and into his bedroom.
