Part 7

Eveline's POV
I woke up early and quietly got ready for the day, slipped down to the great hall, checking to make sure Fred wasn't sitting at our table before hopping into my spot and grabbing for the pumpkin juice. I had decided to avoid him, until I could figure out my emotions. Last night had been great until the closet misadventure, my mind still trying to figure out what he was going to tell me. I shook my head, 'no he was probably gonna ask you for some space... but then why did he grab my hand' I sighed and looked down at the food in front of me. 'This is why your going to avoid him,' I thought 'I can't keep tricking myself into thinking that maybe we'll have a chance he's with Angie and I'm... I'm... single and ready to mingle.' I chuckled at my last thought and grabbed for the oatmeal.
Breakfast was quite while I ate, it's was still early and most people hadn't gotten out of bed, leaving me the perfect time to work on my homework I didn't due last night.
"Hey Williston" I looked up from my charms essay and saw Cedric standing behind me.
"Hey Diggory, what's up?" The boy in front of my looked down at his shuffling feet.
"I was wondering if you... well if you would-" Cedric was cut off my George and Lee pushing through him to get to our table.
"Morning Evie" the two said before squishing me between them as they sat down. Rolling my eyes as I elbowed the two of them, I turned my attention back to the boy standing in front of me.
"Sorry. What were you saying Ced?"
"I was wondering if you would help me with my essay." He said in a defeated voice. Confused by his sudden shift in tone I said sure and gathered my things and stood up.
"Oi where you going?" George asked through a mouthful of sausages. I opened my mouth to respond when Lee piped up.
"Probably to find a good place to snog now that we're here." I stood frozen, and watched as color flooded Cedrics cheeks.
"It's not- it's not like that" I sputtered, "Ced and I were just going to study." Lee and George shoot each other a skeptical look, but there was something more in George's eye.
"That's why the all say." Shaking my head, I grab Cedric's hand to drag him away from the two trouble makers before they made it even weirder, or worse Fred showed up.
"Oi six feet apart love birds."
I shook my head again and continued to leave the hall, missing the worried look George made when he noticed the smile growing on Cedric's face as he laced his fingers through mine.

"Watch your spelling on the spells, but otherwise it good." I handed Cedric back his paper and started to work on mine.
"Yeah ok." He mumbled. Looking up from my essay I noticed Ced had gone quite.
"Hey Ced you okay?" I looked over at the boy next to me. He had been quite since we left the Great Hall. The only words I had heard him say were sorry when I stopping holding his hand but he hadn't noticed and continued to hold on to mine.
I watched his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed and cleared his throat, not noticing he had reached out for my hand till I felt his warm hand on top of mine. My eyes widened as I looked down at his hand then into his sparkling blue eyes. I felt little butterflies take flight in my stomach. 'Well this is unexpected' I thought As our fingers laced together. 'The hottest and nicest guy I know seems to be hitting on me and this morning I was worried about avoiding Fred.' As if summoned by me, Fred ran into the library looking around for me. His eyes lit up as they fell on my confused face. Running toward me he tripped and ran into my chair. Causing me to fall out of my chair, and hit my head on the corner of the table.
"Shit! I'm so so sorry Eveline! I hadn't meant to run into your chair! Oh Eve are you ok?" Fred rambled while I stood up placing my hand to the spot on my forehead that had hit the table. A warm liquid stuck to my fingers as I pulled away from my fingers from the forming knot. The world suddenly started to spin as the red blood on my fingers filled my vision. My breath shallowed and my vision slowly tunneled as my body went totally numb.
"EVELINE!" I heard Cedric and Fred say at the world flipped and my vision went completely dark.
