Chapter 5: Realisations

Zhe Yan knew that after he got married there would be changes, Bai Zhen didn't want to give him many shocks at once so through a time span of a few hundred years he more often than not accompanied Zhe Yan.

He didn't demand anything of Zhe Yan. They played chess, drank wine, gossiped and went on the occasional adventure to heal people and sometimes to the mortal realm to visit.
It was in this way that their solid friendship spread through the twelve heavenly realms, offending either one god meant offending two. One was a high god revered through history and for his medicinal skills and the other was a high god who is in charge of his own region.

Mo Yuan the god of war asked Zhe Yan after seeing his closeness to Bai Zhen. On this day Bai Zhen had wanted to see his little sister who was sent to Kunlun mountain, high god Mo Yuan's home to study under the high God.

It was well known high god Mo Yuan only accepted male disciples so Zhe Yan had disguised her as a man, of course Mo Yuan saw through Zhe Yan's disguise at first glance but still accepted her as a disciple.
He found her amusing and unique, the girl didn't know how to curb her tongue, adding to the fact that she was raised by Bai Zhen and he had spoiled her rotten.

Her parents could not handle her naughty nature and all her older brothers had given up on being able to discipline her. The only person she listened to was her brother and her brother's husband Zhe Yan.

To solve the problem the parents decided to take this last child of theirs and dumped her at the Peach Blossom woods and asked for medicine which could prevent Bai mother from ever getting pregnant again, they didn't want to have any more children she was also unplanned.

After dumping her they packed and decided to retire. When Zhe Yan along with Bai Zhen came across a near drowning fox in one of the ponds in the Peach Blossom woods they decided that she at least had to learn how to defend herself properly.

Bai Zhen was too lazy and Zhe Yan no longer touched weapons, thus Zhe Yan at that moment thought of his best friend who is also the god of war. To pump her up they told her stories about Mo Yuan and his victories of never having been defeated in a war.

Bai Qian had listened and gotten excited, to her she was thinking about the fun of a new place and having new friends to play with. It was in this way that Bai Qian now Si Yin in Kunlun mountain became Mo Yuan's disciple. There was of course a commotion on her first day and ever since then things have always been lively in Kunlun mountain.

After Mo Yuan had directly asked, Zhe Yan didn't try to evade his best friend, he told him that him and Bai Zhen had bowed to heaven and earth and made an oath to be together forever, in other words they were married and were now forever entangled by the string of fate connecting them for all lifetimes.
Mo Yuan was of course very surprised, he thought there was something going on but he never imagined that it was already this solid. He didn't think that his friend Zhe Yan would ever settle down let alone with someone younger.

After a period of silence he whole heartedly congratulated this friend of his and joked how Zhe Yan had practically raised his own husband, they both laughed it off and continued chatting. Mo Yuan could not help but point out that Zhe Yan seemed to be in love with this husband of his, Zhe Yan didn't deny Mo Yuan's words. He felt he did feel something for Bai Zhen but he could not exactly put his finger on what it is.

To him at first Bai Zhen was also his son, but this son was so disobedient that he wanted to eat his own 'father.' Thus, he was forced to shift his mind set to being friends. Zhe Yan refused to lie to himself, spending these few hundreds of years being accompanied by Bai Zhen he had liked it, he had grown a dependence to having Bai Zhen by his side. He enjoyed taking care of Bai Zhen and spoiling him. Their relationship has become so harmonious that he took Bai Zhen by his side as a matter of course.
