"Oh my gosh Charlie! Put me down!" I beat my fists on my brother's back as hard as possible. Considering my size, it's really not very hard at all.
"Awh, (y/n). You'd have to hit harder than that if you want me to put you down." My older brother Charlie has been trying to introduce me to his teammates for a long time, and today it looks like he won't take no for an answer. Yay me. He already forced me to get ready, so now I'm in my Blackmon jersey and black ripped jeans. As casual as possible cause I mean, who really cares.
Charlie opens his car door and gently sets me in the passenger seat and closes the door. He runs to the other side and starts the car. Soon enough we are on our way to Coors Field.
"This is kidnapping, ya know." I try to reason with Charlie, but my protests don't stop him from dragging me all the way to the place he likes to call his second home.
"Hardly." Charlie chuckles as we pull into the parking lot. "Get ready, the boys have been excited about meeting you forever!" His excitement makes me roll my eyes, because all I wanted to do today was have a nice comfy day and go to bed early, but no.
I try to stay in the car for as long as possible, but before long charlie picks me up once again and carries me into the clubhouse.
"Heyyy boys look who's here!" I peek over Charlie's shoulder to see the whole clubhouse full of boys looking in our direction. My face goes red and I bury my head back in his sweater.
Charlie drops me onto my feet and forces me to face the boys, much to my dismay. "Uh, Hi guys." My voice is quiet and shy while all the boys smile at me and greet me back, well, all but one.
There, in the corner of the clubhouse, looking at me with a blank expression is none other than Nolan Arenado. While trying to shake off his stare, I say hi to all the boys individually and engage in light conversation with the ones who are the closest to Charlie.
So far, meeting the team has gone smoothly, and I can tell these boys will become like brothers to me. I'm almost forgetting how much I didn't want to come.
Right now, it's game time. Charlie somehow convinced me to sit in the dugout with the boys, because he's too overprotective to let me sit in the crowd alone. I thought it would be awkward, but it's been nice getting to talk to some of the boys, and the game has gone by a lot faster than I thought it would.
I still have yet to talk to Nolan, but he has been making it very clear that he likes to look in my direction. I have no idea what that's about but every time he's in the dugout he seems to stare at me.
"Hey." He surprises me by sitting down next to me right as the game finishes. "I'm Nolan." He smiles, and looks like he has something else he wants to say, but he seems conflicted. After a few moments of thinking he opens his mouth to speak. "You know, Charlie warned us that you were pretty, but I never thought someone related to him could look so effortlessly beautiful. I bet he told you that we were all begging to meet you. We really were, but I would like to think that the most excited out of everyone, was me."
A warm blush finds it's way onto my pale cheeks. "Thank you, Nolan. You know, I would be lying if I said that I wanted to come here today, but I sure am glad that Charlie made me." I smile at him sweetly, just as Charlie pops his head into the dugout and says that he has been looking for me.
"I'm leaving so lets go." He then sees the boy next to me and adds "Oh, hey Nolan, sorry to interrupt but I'm not feeling the best so I would like to get home." With that said he smiles and disappears back into the clubhouse.
"I guess I should get going, It was very nice talking to you today. I might come to games more often." His face lights up at my last sentence. I can't help but hope I will get to know him better over the course of the season, and hopefully many more seasons.
"It was so amazing meeting you. I know the other boys and I already like your company so you are welcome back any time." He smiles and stands up, pulling me into a hug. This is the first time I have realized how much taller he is than I am.
After standing up and hugging him back lightly, I walk quickly back to find my brother, knowing he is eager to leave. For some reason, even when saying my goodbyes to some of the other boys on the team, I cant seem to get Nolan's face and gentle voice out of my head.
The car ride back home is almost silent, the radio providing the only noise in the car. When Charlie parks the car and I make my way inside and to my room, there is still an undeniably large smile on my face.
When I shrug my coat off and a paper falls into my bedroom floor, my smile turns into a look of slight confusion and wonder. I don't remember having a paper in my pocket, so I pick it up off the floor and unfold it, only to see a short paragraph of messy handwriting.
'Hi beautiful. Me again. Meeting you tonight was definately a blessing, but I would really like it if we could spend time together away from all the noise and distraciton. Maybe you could call me sometime and we could work something out? I hope so. Anyway, goodnight angel.
xoxo, Nolan'On the back of the little note, there is 10 messily written digits staring right back at me and it almost seems like they are begging me to type them into my phone. I sigh, the happiest sigh anyone has ever done in the history of anything ever, I'm sure. I flop onto my bed, pulling my phone out and entering the number into my contacts. I make a mental note to thank the heck out of Charlie in the morning, and then I try to forget my nerves as I type out a message for Nolan.
Hey, remember me? The more attractive Blackmon sibling :))
