The second the sun peeks over the horizon, the three of us are dragged to the upper deck. Issac and Milo throw a fit, trying to fight any pirate that comes too close. Their chains are also wrapped around their ankles as they surround them with rope. They tie me to the main mast while Milo and Issac are roped and standing before the Captain.
"Ah, Milo." Captain begins. "It's nice to see you again. How are the Lost Boys treating you?"
"Better than you ever did."
Captain's face turns red at the response. I bite back a laugh. He storms towards the duo, his hand raised. I see the glint of a ring that wasn't there previously and the subtle flinch of Milo.
"Don't," I shout.
His gaze turns towards me. "What could you possibly do that will stop me?"
I send him a grin, my heart beating fast as my adrenaline spikes. "Scream."
The few pirates rush to stop me, their hands reaching towards me. The noise that escapes me is full of fear and panic. It echoes over the waters before they silence me by throwing their calloused, grimy hands over my mouth. I nearly gag at the smell.
Captain curses, throwing the two boys to the floor. "She's going to walk the plank now!"
They untie my body before wrapping the rope around my wrists. They march me to the plank, Milo and Isssc shouting curses at everyone touching me. I pull and push whoever I can in an attempt to escape. I bite one of them when they get to close and kick one of them when their back is turned.
"We can't keep her, Captain?" One of them whines. "She's a pretty little thing."
"She's more dangerous than you expect."
Two of them haul me up onto the wooden board. The narrow plank bends slightly under my weight. The water churns underneath me and is darker than anything I've seen before. Something seems to shine in the dark ocean. I square my shoulders before feeling something sharp poke my back. I turn to see a pirate with a sword, his grin sinister.
"Go on, dear. Walk."
I shuffle forward before looking over my shoulder. The two Lost Boys look horrified at my situation.
"Mae, don't-" Milo shouts before the pirate rushes forward.
His sudden movement frightens me. I scream and stumble over the edge of the board. His laughter is the last thing I hear before the cold water hits me.
It knocks the wind out of my body. I attempt to kick my feet but my dress wraps around my legs. My panic quickly worsens the longer I am unable to move my legs. My wrists burn from my trying to loosen the ropes. My hair floats in front of my face, the brown strands covering my view of the sunlight above.
A few figures fill my vision before hands gently touch me. As darkness quickly takes over, a single feminine face fills my vision.

"She's a pretty little thing, isn't she?" A soft voice comments. "I wonder why they made her walk the plank."
"Captain must've not liked her," an equally sweet voice chimes back.
I begin coughing, my chest burning. I roll over to my stomach before pushing myself to sit up. The sand is damp underneath me while the waves tickle my legs. The dress sticks to my skin and the once pretty yellow dress is destroyed. My hair sticks to the sand, my face, and my shoulders.
When I turn to glance at my saviors, I see two mermaids along a rock. My eyes widen at the sight of their glimmering tails. The fins flicker up and down slowly. Fairies, pirates, and now mermaids. This island-
