A/N: READ please!
Hey everyone, I know it's been a while since I updated this story. I had been going through it recently and noticed what a mess my presentation was, so I have revised a few things in all the chapters. Don't worry, it has nothing to do with the plot - I just corrected some grammatical errors and rephrased my sentences. Honestly, the lack of views had discouraged me earlier, and I had been evading this story by writing new one-shots (since I am not very good at multi-chartered stories) and focussing much more on my YouTube account. When I picked this up again though, I realised that my writing style had changed a lot from back then. Still, I won't leave this story in the middle. Consider this chapter a Christmas present from my side! I had actually written this earlier, but unpublished it because of a few errors related to characterisation.
This chapter is from Haruka's P.O.V..
~
Shinji coming to talk to Hikari at the dead of night - what could be the meaning of this?
Haruka could not sleep.
Before going to sleep, Hikari looked worried, and that same expression bore on her face when Haruka had woken her up.
She lied down on the bed.
Why hadn't she told her anything before? But now, all Haruka could do, was wait.
~
Hikari came back to the room in tears.
"Hikari! What happened?" Haruka locked the door, and sat beside her best friend on the bed.
"Nothing."
"Hikari, please tell me. I want to help you, but I won't be able to unless you tell me."
"I-I-" And then Hikari broke down crying in the brunette's arms.
"It's fine", she consoled her while caressing her hair. She gave the the blunette some time to collect herself before asking questions. "Better?"
She received a nod.
"Now, what happened?"
"... He just said some mean things. I'll get over it."
As curious as she was, she knew that it wasn't the best time to ask her, and that it would just make Hikari sadder, so she let it be.
~
Haruka got up early next morning. She needed to talk to a specific person.
"Good morning", Shuu greeted her. "Looks like you remembered our match."
"'Morning, Shuu. I am sorry, but we will have to re-schedule it."
"Ha! Scared already?"
"No, I have to see someone."
"Excuses... excuses."
"Shuu!"
He deadpanned.
"Go away, I need to talk to Shinji."
As she started walking away, he placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her. "Shinji? Why do you need to meet him?"
"I-It's personal."
"You barely talk to him, and now you both share a personal matter."
"Do I have to tell you everything? It's none of your concern", she snapped.
~
She found Shinji in the garden.
"What did you say to Hikari last night?", Haruka came straight to the point.
"None of your business."
"Then let me make one thing clear before I go: stay away from Hikari."
"Like I care."
"Good, 'cause if I see you near her, then you're gonna have it from me."
The lack of response angered Haruka further as she asked him again what exactly he had said to Hikari.
"Do you even know what happened?"
"No, I may not, but I know that she cares for you."
"... Hmph."
"You don't get it, do you? All I can say is that if she didn't care about you, she wouldn't be crying."
"Cr-? Hmph!"
