Just as I expected working at the shop throwing tires around and cussing out coworkers had it’s effect because when I left work that night I was too tired to be annoyed with the day. The drive home was peaceful and as usual Pixie was excited to see me; so was my mom who was still up and just finishing dinner for me.

“How was your day, sweetie?”, she asked me as I dropped myself onto a chair at the dinner table.

“Long and tiring. I hate people. I don’t know why I work in customer service or go to school.”, I huffed as I started dishing myself up some dinner.

We ate mostly in silence because I was too tired to do anything else. And as I got ready for bed that night I heard the now familiar howling of whatever was roaming outside in the fields. I heard one get close to the house and looked out my window to see one massive wolf sitting by our electric shed in the front yard. My blood ran cold as I looked into those blue eyes that seemed too human. I turned away from the window and closed the blinds as I tried to remind myself that I was just tired and wanting to go to bed. I went to let Pixie out one last time in my pajamas and went to bed.

As my alarm went off the next morning resisted the urge to throw my phone across the room. Why did we live so far out of town? Why was school so early? Pixie stayed curled up on her side of the bed as I groaned and pulled myself out of bed and into the shower.

As I was about to leave the house Pixie came racing out to go to the bathroom and try to come with me. As I was trying to shoo her back into the house I heard a truck coming from down the road where some houses were even further out than us. I picked her up and stood in our yard to watch the giant white fuckboy hummer drive by. No! No way in hell is he our new neighbor! Not that you can call people who live out here neighbors as the closest one lives three kilometers away but still, I didn't want to be living next to that annoying idiot.

I huffed and brought Pixie back inside kissing her goodbye and yelling to my mom that I was leaving for school.

As I hopped in my truck dreading the day that now lay ahead as fuckboy now knew where I lived. I pulled in the parking lot at school, surprisingly fifteen minutes early today and looked around for a spot big enough for my beast of a truck. I was in luck as I saw a spot in the very back just big enough for the dodge. I parked and sat back in my seat watching people moving around the parking lot. It was a sunny day, even though it was fall and all the leaves were turning red and gold, it was warm enough that students were crowded around various cars and trucks talking before they had to head in for the day. This is of course when I spotted fuckboy and his friends. Damn him and his good looks; his brown hair catching the sun just right and his husky six plus foot build towering over all the other students there. As if he felt my eyes on him from across the lot, he turned and smirked in my direction like he knew. I scowled and yanked my door open, hopped out and slammed the door shut like I was slamming it shut on his stupid face.

I took the long way to the entrance at the front of the school, not wanting to even look at anyone right now, it was too early for this.

Even though I had to walk further away to avoid people, one in particular, someone still managed to catch me walking into the school by calling out my name, "Nova!"

I already had my hand on the door handle ready to open the door and walk inside when he had called out to me, so I did just that and pretended not to hear him. But alas, my efforts were in vain as I felt a hand grip my upper arm just as I thought I was homefree inside the school doors.

"Hey. I was talking to you, Nova.", Ben said, an incredulous look on his face. As if I had the gall to ignore him.

"Uh yeah, I fucking know, I was ignoring you,” I said slowly like he was a small child, and jerked myself out of his hold.
