Breaking the rule

I've changed Hero's sister name from Kendall to Mercy.

Ambrosia's pov

I  lightly touch my forehead where he gives a peck. The kind of warmness that I've never felt in my entire life seeps through my veins. I feel the butterflies in my stomach. 

My heart almost jumps out of my chest as soon as I hear the door opening. I tightly close my eyes thinking it is Hero.

I know u r awake. " Get up. Dinner's ready," Mercy informs me. I entangle myself from the blanket and follow Mercy to the kitchen. It's the greatest kitchen that I've ever seen. Various kinds of utensil, a gigantic refrigerator and cupboard. 

While I am admiring the kitchen, Hero stands up from the dining table and walks towards me. I awkwardly cough not knowing what to say. He abruptly holds my hand and leads me towards the chair besides his in which he previously sat. 

My jaw drops when I see the food that are on the table. Steak, omelette, bacon, salad, pancake, raspberries, noodles, etc.

" We don't know what u like so Hero made as much as he could," Mercy answers my thoughts. 

" Thank u for dinner. I'll definitely enjoy it," I start digging in.

" U better," Dylan pops open a bottle and attempts to pour it into the glass until Mercy elbows his stomach. " Not now," Mercy glares at him, gritting his teeth. 

Dylan looks at her confusingly, " She is having her human food so it's not wrong of me for craving blood."

I gag at the thought of drinking blood. I assume that was red wine forgetting the fact that I'm having dinner with the hybrids and the vampire at the same table. But it's his food.

" It's ok, Mercy. I'm used to blood. Remember? I'm a medical technological student who deals with blood every day to diagnose the diseases," I reassures her. Dylan proceeds his act.

We all are midway eating when the phone ringtone blasts through the house. I instantly recognize it. It's mine. Mercy stands up and takes my bag which is on the shelf in the kitchen. 

" I took it while u were asleep. Don't want anyone to annoy u. U needed that sleep. Sorry," Mercy explains handing me my ringing phone.

" It's ok," I give her a faint smile. I swipe it to answer after seeing the contact, Maisie. I forgot to call her to let her know that I'm safe. 

"Hello"

"Hello, Am?" 

" Yes"

" Is ur brother with u now?" she asks me.

" My brother? Zach? Why would he be with me?"

" He asked me where u r up to like three hours ago. He couldn't find u at ur home. He said he just wanted to drop by before the college reopens. And I told him that u were off camping with ur friend in the forest. He was so worried. I'm just wondering if u guys have met. I'm worried if he is lost," she breathlessly explains.

Suddenly a very loud howling interrupts. That scares me so much that I accidentally drop the phone on the floor. I quickly pick it up, " Ok, thanks for letting me know, Maisie. I haven't met him yet. But I'll find him," I hung up.

 It's too silent for my liking. I look at Mercy, Dylan and Hero. Their faces are too pale and they look like they have just seen the ghost. 

" Em, I need to find my brother," I trail off.

" I hear u. We have extraordinary hearing ability. Remember? We r vampires," Hero says. All three of them become alert and rushes out of the kitchen. They don't even finish their dinner. What just happened?
