Nevada

Up to 10 years later

I watch the Kymari children play in the open feild. They were not away me watching then and honestly that's how I liked it. Dad would have been very disappointed in me for doing this but at the moment i think he is more busy with the new fledglings he has then where I've gone. His new mate, Zara, had his eggs sometime earlier this year and honestly I haven't visited him since. My heart yearned to see my father but Zara dislikes me for some odd reason forcing me and my dad apart. The female kymari child kicks the ball into the goal and the team I was supposedly rooting for went up in cheers. I purr happily before turning around to go back home.

Oddily enough just as the votacks did to the humans the kymari had wiped them off this earth and erased anything left of the humans existence off this world. I shake my blue furr and look at my small hut. The dragoten species oddly enough builds small homes out of anything useful in the environment. My small hut wasn't pretty big but that was expected;I was the only one living here anyways. I watch as Zara (a emerald dragoten) groom dad. It was odd seeing them like that and I turn my head from them. When the kymari had invaded the planet they had destroyed our previous home and forced us to live out in the forest. There was only about fifty-something of us who escaped and before we went into the walls of a kymari city out numbers plummeted to a mere thirty-two, including the four fledglings that hatched this year.

I honestly wasn't that surprised at our numbers because of how late we started with our breeding. This year was the first and it's been ten years already. I snort softly before laying down on the soft grass. It was raining outside and I hated it. I wanted to sunbathe and visit some dragotens. I guess the weather had other plans. The rain beat down on my roof and I stand to grab a few peices of fruit which consisted of pineapples (I had borrowed from the kymari), some wild strawberries, and a few blueberries which weren't particularly my favorite.

Dragotens were omnivores just like the dragonets, which lived towards the eastern park while we lived in the western park. Our colors varied from females being blue, emerald green, and gold-males on the other hand varied from silver, crimson, and a purplish blue. Our eyes are completely random.

Thunder sounded from above and I scarf the last blueberry down. I look in dad and Zara's small home and smile at my siblings. One was a beautiful gold while the other was a emerald green. "Two girls." I mutter gently before sighing. It was lonely and after the 7th year I was kicked out from living with them. I did not like Zara and I didn't make any moves to reconnect with dad. He was happy and that's all I'm worried about.

The wind blew in harshly and I back up behind a wall for cover. I curl up in my next and cover myself with my wing before closing my eyes. My house rocked gently and I let that lull me to a peaceful sleep.

I beat my wings hard and curse myself for oversleeping. Weaving through all the trees I finally make it to the dragonets park and with a little time to spare. Unlike the dragotens the dragonets were well known with kymari and honestly I didn't like how they force me to hide in the heavy foliage. I land carfully in my perch before getting comfortable. The dragonets lined the edges of the clearing and I fidget in my spot as well. It was exciting watching the dragonets do their morning song and honestly after I first saw it many years back I couldn't get enough of it. Everyday was different and I loved the variety. Their colors were slightly different then ours. The females were gold, green, and crimson while the males were silver, blue, and purple (not very sure of the last one as I'm not very sure about their species in general).

One by one I watch the dragonets shoot to the sky. My excitement reaches their limits and I can't but purr. They dance about and do amazing acrobatics while also avoiding each other. Their voices eventually reaches their peek and before to long they slowly scatter to their daily lives. The kymari quickly dispersed and I turn to leave myself. I lift my wings before taking off without a noise. Weaving through the tree branches and leaves with ease I come to a stop at the edge of the park. The kymari street's were busy and I curse to myself for staying so long. The sun shines on the side walk and I turn to go deeper into the foliage to keep from getting spot.  I sit on a branch and lay down. It wasn't the first time I'd be waiting for sundown or less busy street to go back to my park.

I breathe a puff of smoke out my nose before going to the same clearing so I at least hide without being seen. Making it there with little time to spare I lay down higher up in the tree before curling up and laying my wing over my face.

'Hey wake up!' Something screams into my mind. It was a child's voice and I look up at the dragonets staring at me. I jump and try to fly away when something grabs my tail and slams me back down. I look at the silver male and hiss fearfully at him. He hisses back before growling, 'Who are you?'  "My name is Nevada and I'm a dragoten." I bluntly chirp only for him to give me a dumbfounded expression. Scowling at him I speak again, "Did you hear me. You-hoo?"

'I can't understand you link to me!" I stagger backwards and look at him clearly confused. 'You don't know how to link....' I shake my head and he visibly sighs. 'Think towards me and imagine all of us around you is in a bubble. The general link is loud so only have us in that bubble.' I gawk at before sighing out my nose. Anything is possible now.

'Hello.' My voice was a bit timid but otherwise a bit annoyed. 'Great now what are you?' He relaxes and backs away from me, 'My name is Nevada I'm a species called the dragoten. That same lab you came from I came from as well my species except a few have hatched after the invasion. From my knowledge our DNA was mixed instead of direct transport if I said that right." He looks at me before looking away at towards the clearing. I needed to do my own song and dance and I already felt the call. Unlike the dragonets we did ours at dusk. He snorts 'Why are you here?' 'Just like the kymari I like watching you guy's dance but I accidentally stayed to long and I was only waiting for a break in traffic on after my evening dance so I could go home.'

He shuffles his wings before looking towards the clearing. This would be my first dance outside of my home and I was getting quite nervous. 'You are well aware that the kymari will see you correct.' 'Yes, yes I am.' He looks at my body and I shy away from his stair. He dwarfed me and it was kinda crazy. They easily stood at seven to ten inches while we only stand at four to six. I was at the four marking. 'Your species is undiscovered and I'm quite jealous you guys kept it that way for such a long time. But you will probably break that chain?' I nod before raising my wings high into the air as the call got stronger. 'You are right but I have no control over that now. We were going to get spotted one day.' With that I take to the air revealing my form to all that could see and land in the clearing.
