Chapter 6- Enemies, Anger and Dr. Erkstein

We lay almost side by side. We are adjacent but we have little machines in between us. Ladies in lab coats walk over and put three tubes filled by the blue serum. On either side of Steve and I near our arms. We both gets shots into us and I hear Steve say.

"That wasn't that bad." I laugh at him.

"Steve that was penicillin." I laugh and he stares at me wide eyed. I look over at Peggy who is next to me. "Guess I found something to look forward to." I say and she laughs.

"Guess you did. I'll see you on the other side." I laugh and she walks up to the booth. Dr. Erkstein tests the microphone.

"Can you hear me?" He says and Peggy nods at the doctor. He turns to Howard. "How are your levels?"

"Levels at one hundred percent." Howard says.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Today we take not another step towards annihilation. But the first step towards peace. We begin with a series of micro injections, into the subjects, which we have Steve Rogers and Elizabeth Orr, it will be injected into their major muscles. The serum infusion will cause immediate cellular change. Then to stimulate growth the subjects will be saturated with Vita Rays." He says to the audience of people in the booth. He continues on but I look over at Steve and he looks at me.

"Till the end of the line." I mouth to him

"Till the end of the line." He mouths back. Suddenly we are injected with the serum and the capsule closes.

"Can you hear me?" Dr. Erkstein muffled voice flows into the capsule.

"Probably too late to go to the bathroom, right?" Steve and I answer simultaneously. I try not to laugh and for a rare time, I succeed.

"We will proceed." I hear the doctor say. Suddenly and bright light happens and pain. Pain fills my body in my legs, arms, my whole body and I try not to scream, but the pain gets too much.

"Steve, Elizabeth! Shut it down!" I hear more yells but Steve yells back.

"No! Don't" Steve yells and we hope they hear us.

"We can do this." I yell. The light gets brighter and brighter, I close my eyes and I assume the heard us. Suddenly it all dies down. I hear my head against the table that we started on and catch my breath. The doors open and I hear the scurry of feet. I open my eyes and see Peggy go to Steve's side and I see Howard in front of me.

He helps me out of the capsule and I lean on him heavily. I stand to my full height and I see that I am taller than Howard.

"We you always this short?" I breathe out and Howard rolls his eyes. I smirk at him and laugh. "You did it, Howard. Here go see your other subject." I say and lean off him.

I stand up to my full height and look around. Something seems terribly wrong. I look and see one last vial of the serum in a corner and then a hand that grabs it. I see the man pull out a gun.

Three shots fire and I see Dr. Erkstein fall. I rush over to his side with Steve. Steve! Whoa he gain muscle and height. Wow. I focus.

Dr. Erkstein points to Steve's heart and then my heart, as if saying follow your heart. I grab Steve's hand and pull him up.

"Steve, let's move." I run pulling Steve along with me. I grab a gun from under the counter and rush out the door over the lady who got shot by the man who stole the serum. I point the gun at the man and then my thrown back.

"Steve I had him. Wait not time to argue, run soldier!" We run down the alleys. "Split up!" Steve and I run out separate ways, with Steve behind the yellow stolen car and be running towards it. It suddenly takes a left turn toward the docks.

Steve and I turn and run together at the same pace. The man jumps out of the car and grabs a boy.

"Tommy, no!" I hide between the open car door and the man. He lets a few bullets fly and runs with the boy. Steve and I run after him and we see him drag the kid along. Steve and I hold our hands up and suddenly the kid is thrown into the dock.

I run and jump in after him and Steve runs toward the man. I grab the boy and drag him out of the water. I pick some junk off his clothes and crouch down near him.

"Are you okay?" I ask him and he nods.

"Thank you!" I smile and nod.

"You're welcome, no go find your mom. She is probably really worried about you." He nods and runs off the way his mom was. I turn to find Steve over a man. I run over and look at him. White foam coming out of his mouth.

"Soldier." Steve stands straight up. "Let's go back." Steve and I walk through the streets in bare feet. I feel so... so vulnerable in my tank top. Women don't wear tank tops. "You did well, even though the man died. He didn't get the vial and we don't have to deal with another super soldier." I say and Steve looks at me.

"Thank you." I nod and we arrive at the building.

"Are you hurt?" We say at the same time and shake our heads. Peggy runs up to us and looks us up and down for any injuries. We walk along the hallway and walk into the infirmary.

"We're fine." Steve and I say again simultaneously. We laugh and punch each other's shoulders playfully. I look at Peggy and see that she is watching Steve. I know I confessed my feelings but I am going to ignore them now. Steve deserves Peggy and Peggy deserves Steve.

"Bee!" I jump out of my thoughts and see both Peggy and Steve watching me.

"What did I miss?" I say and they watch me carefully. I raise an eyebrow at both of them. I wave my hand and snap my fingers. "What did I miss?"

"The nurse needs to take blood." I hold out my arm.

"What is the blood test for?" I ask her.

"We want to figure out the serum again. Since you both have the serum in your bodies we were thinking of trying to find what was in it so we could replicate it." I nod.

"Okay finished, darling." I look up at the nurse and watch her eyeing Steve like he was a piece of steak. I roll my eyes. People ignored him before but when he gets a six pack and muscles, he is the man of everyone's dreams. I begin to laugh hard and I hold my stomach. Steve and Peggy watch me curiously.

"Oh don't worry, I am just thinking." Finally my laughter dies down and no one makes a move. I just get up and walk out of the room, finding my way around. I stop when I hear Colonel Phillips voice.

"What do we have here?" I walk into the room and see a weird submarine like thing.

"Speaking modestly, I'm the best mechanical engineer in this country. But I don't know what's inside this thing or how it works. We're not even close to this technology." I roll my eyes at the way Howard describes himself.

"Then who is?" Phillips says

"Hydra." I answer. "I'm sure you've read the briefings. Hydra is a Nazi deep science division. It is led by Johann Schmidt, but he has much bigger ambitions. Hydra practically worship Schmidt. They think he is invincible." I say and everyone stares at me.

"We need to take the fight to Hydra." I say and Phillips speaks up.

"How do you know this?" I sigh.

"Do we really need to discuss this? I do have eyes, ears and a brain." I sigh.

"Pack your bags Agent Carter. We're flying to London tonight." Phillips says.

"Sir, if you're going after Schmidt, I want in." Steve says.

"You're an experiment, along with Agent Orr. You're going to Alamogordo." He says and I clench my fists.

"I asked for an Army and all I got was you and Agent Orr." I walk over to a table and sit down. "You are not enough." I slam my hands into the metal table making hand prints in it. Everyone stares at me. I walk up to the Colonel growling.

"You asked for an Army. You should've protected Dr. Erkstein. He would've given you an army. Are we not enough for you? Would your men have been able to catch the man with the serum? No!" I growl and walk closer so my face is inches from the Colonels. "We made sure you didn't have an army of super soldiers against your side. You are dang lucky that we're with the US army."
