Rememberance

As Ava sat in the rainy window pane, she twirled the engagement ring on her finger while staring out into the driving rain of New York City.
This type of rain was like no other. It made her think about the summer that she and her long lost love had spent together in the backroads and downtown of New Jersey. His name was Mattia; a name that you could never forget and the same unforgettable smile.
Ava drifted off into another world as she thought about him. The way he made her feel; was unlike any other.
*flashback*
It was a typical sunny day in the hot mid-July of New Jersey. Ava is visiting her best friend Chase for a couple of weeks. They had been best friends ever since last summer (2019) when Ava duetted one of Chases dancing tiktoks. Ava and Chase were soo funny together; like yin and yang. You could sit and watch either of their tiktoks for hours and laugh so much.
Mattia and his best friends also made tiktoks. You could say they were a different genre though. Mattia and the rest of the jersey boys were no sight for sore eyes. They all had over 1 million followers on tiktok and girls all over the world were obsessed with them. But not Ava. That's what made her different; she never was boy crazy and never invisioned herself having a real and passionate young love experience. Maybe it was because she is a Taurus.
Of course Ava knew of Mattia but she had never met him. Not yet at least; chase invited Ava to a party to celebrate Paul Wesley's birthday (July 23). Paul Wesley played Stefan in vampire diaries. He also was a close fiend of Chase. Paul was very cryptic and undiscovered; but yet that is unimportant to this story.
Mattia was also a friend of Paul's. They were almost cousins but not quite. We don't know how that works but it just does. So Mattia was going to the party as well.
Meanwhile (the day of the party) Ava and Chase had to find something to wear that night. Paul's parties were always way too extravagant. Chase and Ava looked at so many stores until Ava finally found the perfect dress. It went down just to her knees billowing in thin white satin fabric and it complimented her passion twists and made her look so beautiful.
She stepped out of the dressing room as chase exclaimed "ooo girl you look great!"
"Thanks, but are you sure this is the right one? It doesn't make me look too flashy does it?"
"No; of course not.. it's perfect" Chase said genuine. He picked up the price tag and said "oh! And it's only $20! Girl get the steals!"
"Yeah thanks for the advice." Ava said. She didn't really dress up often but when she did it must've been a very special occasion.
"You know who's gonna be there tonight? I'll tell you who.. Alejandro. I think he might be into you." Chase said with a sly face.
"He is not into me!" Ava said laughing. Her laugh was contagious. "He's not really into the colored folk" Ava said with the voice she usually puts on for her tiktoks.
Chase bursts into laughs "you know that voice gets me every time!"
They laughed together for a couple seconds until the lady that works there walked over and said "are you two actually going to buy anything or not?"
"Um yeah I'm getting this dress actually." Ava said shyly. She hated people like that- snobs.
A few hours later they had finished their shopping for the day and decided to head back to Chases house and get ready.
