"Wh-what kind of bad news? What do you mean?" I ask, stumbling over my words.
"I'm afraid it's about your parents. There was an accident on the main highway this evening, Mr and Mrs Masterson appear to be at the center of it."
"What? Are they alright? Oh God, they have to be!" I was freaking out. I mean, I had just gotten a text from my dad a few hours ago saying they would still be a while.
"I'm afraid not Ma'am. If you would, we have been sent to bring you down to the hospital." Answered Detective Pearson.
"Of course." I knew it was a little odd for detectives to come and actually escort someone to their loved ones but, quite honestly I wasn't thinking straight. I was just worried about my parents.
To my surprise and relief, I saw the men turn and head to a dark colored car, setting directy in front if a police car. At least I knew they were who they claimed to be.
I quickly ran to the kitchen to turn off the oven before running out the door. By the time I had made it to the car, Detective Pearson was standing at the back of the dark car, holding the door open for me. All the while, Detective Augustine was in the front passenger seat, talking on the phone.
It was the longest car ride of my life.
