Lydia rolled over, shielding herself from the harsh bright sunlight shooting through her bedroom window. She closes her eyes in hopes to fall back to sleep as a book plumets across the room and crashes into the side of her head. A growing pain starts to manifest. What a great start to the misery of another day and wakefulness.
"Wake up sleepy head, we have shopping to do!" Elena Said in a sing song voice.
Shopping for what? Lydia tried to remember but came up clean.
"You forgot didn't you" Elena accused her.
"Nooooo, I didn't" she replied guiltily.
"Okay then, what are we shopping for then?".
"Fine I forgot, you caught me!!" Lydia Siad obviously defeated. " What is it we're shopping for? She asked.
"THE GATHERING, YOU KNOW THE 500 YEAR GET TOGETHER OF ALL THE ELVES AND CELEBRATE MELIORIA AND THE WANDERERS!!! how could you forget" Elena told Lydia in a raised voice. How could I forget, the gathering of all races of elves under the Melioria tree where It picks the next Wanderers. Then it dawned on her, she had a chance of becoming a Wanderer, an ever so slim chance. It was her worst nightmare, well apart from rivers of blood and painful screams of course. Her most feared nightmare that had a chance of coming true.
"Hello, earth to Lydia" mocked Elena. "Get up, get dressed were going shopping" directed Elena as she fluttered across the room and out of the room, shutting the dark oak door behind her.
Lydia stands and stalks over to her mirror and peers in. Her reflection staring back at her, her pale blonde, almost white hair in a tangled mess. Green eyes abnormally bright for a forest elf, no one could figure out why she had such bright eyes. Everyone at school would always gawk at her and make comments. One time she had enough and stuck a twig in one kids ear. She hadn't had another comment about her eyes since.
spiraling away from her thoughts, she rests her eyes on the mirror once more. She was a splitting image of her late mother.
She holds back tears as She grasps her brush from her bedside table and gets to work on her hair. Roughly pulling it back into two messy braids and decorating them with flowers the colour of tangerines and honey. Quickly she stumbles to get dressed into a black top that she messily tucks into a skirt the same colour as the flowers in her hair. She takes one last look at herself in the mirror. Deciding she's happy with her appearance.
she darts out the door, down the hall, hurrying down the creaking steps, though the kitchen which smelt like freshly baked pie over to were Elena was waiting impatiently at the dinner table.
Elena's dark hair with a redish shine spiraled down around her face in perfection Lydia didn't think was possible. Her sunkissed skin contrasting against her white dress that was pulled in at the waste with a vine of dark blue, almost black, flowers. The dress reached just above her knees.
"About time, I was about to go up and check if you were still breathing!!" Elena joked shaking her head.
Lydia let out a now rare laugh.
"Come on, we better hurry up then, the good stuff will be gone soon" she threatened. At this she received a laugh from Elena.
Together they made there way out of the house arm in arm.
