Beyond The Stars

Chapter-1

In the cluster of colourful orbs, a pale body was floating. The deadly pale skin gave a false sense of beauty to the lifeless person. The small balls or orbs danced around the human as they eyed him, taking in every attribute of his soul. Suddenly, a purple ball rushed near the body, pushing through the crowding orbs. System 969 looked at the human soul in contemplation, thinking whether to give this being a chance or not. However, it hadn't much time to decide considering the life source of this human would be extracted completely in a while.

System 969 shut its imaginary eyes and reached out to the human. The said human, who was deadly pale started to gain some colour as a voice rang in his muddled mind.

"System 969, asking human whether he wants to live or go on his journey to afterlife?"

Nolan couldn't understand the voice in his mind, the only thing he knew at the moment was that he wanted to live. And he did. Nolan subconsciously gave a positive reply to the system, which caused system 969 to open its eyes in joy. The higher-ups because of its poor performance had scolded it recently. It had already lost enough face in front of the juniors that were far better than system 969 in assisting their hosts. But in system 969's point of view, it wasn't its fault if the missions were failed or the worlds had collapsed where it had gone with its hosts. It was all system 969's pigmates' fault.

Why those hosts thought that they are special just because they have given a chance in returning back to life and did whatever they wanted to do, completely flipping the plot at 180. No matter how many times system 969 protested or tried to guide them back on trial, they would always retort his concern and kept on destroying plots.

Now when system 969 has established a contract with a new host, it will make sure to make this child a good host who listens to his nice old grandpa system obediently. As soon as the contract established, purple light engulfed Nolan and next when he opened his deep blue eyes, he found himself flying in an empty space. Nolan was startled with the strangeness of his situation and quickly focused in his surroundings. As expected, he was really floating in a space with no walls or ground.

Nolan couldn't understand what just happened. One second he was trying to coax his girlfriend to give him a second chance. Apparently, he had messed up their relationship by not providing enough for his girlfriend. He loved his girlfriend and wanted to give her all that she has ever wished for. But for that, she had to wait as Nolan had just started his job at the company. He was handsome and a top student. He was the hunk in his university and felt quite lucky that he got to date Amelia, the university beauty. The only thing he was lacking in (at least in Amelia's eyes) was wealth.

Nolan wasn't from a poor family, but he wasn't from a wealthy one either. His parents' all savings had given for his studies sake. Now he wanted to repay them for their kindness and love and give them a better life along with his girlfriend.

However, Amelia didn't want to listen to his reasons. He was just a loser in her eyes. Many young masters of rich families awaited for her reply to their proposals. What good was this loser to her?

She intended to break up with him that day but neither one thought that the argument would turn into Nolan's death. Amelia turned on her six inches high heels, ready to walk off to the awaiting black Porsche at the roadside when Nolan pulled her arm to stop her. Just then, like a reflex, Amelia pulled her arm out of his grip whilst giving him a harsh shove. Amelia didn't realize the severity of her move when she heard a loud car honk with a loud bang.

When she turned around, everything was bloody as a lifeless battered corpse laid in the middle of the road. The last thought was what he did wrong. After going through everything that happened, Nolan's chaotic heart calmed a bit as he realized that he wasn't at fault ever. It was Amelia
