The next day I am dressed and ready to go to the garden for luncheon with the prince. Once I make it there, I see he has already been sitting at the table for some time, and reading.
He looks up from the book, "Took you long enough." he jokes.
"I'm here, aren't I?" I reply back, giving a smile. "Are you enjoying the play?" I ask, nodding to the book he holds in his hands.
"Oh, yes. Thank you. Um..Luke..told me you let your..maid, have it?"
"Uh, yeah. My maid..Belle.." I say awkwardly.
I see my parents walking around, glancing over at us every minute or so, and talking quietly to themselves. Rolling my eyes, I lean back in my chair. "We're being watched."
Prince Lucas looks around, stops when he sees his parents walking up to mine; and rolls his eyes as well. "That's just great."
"It's parents. They want to make sure we're getting along."
Prince Lucas looks at me. "Are we?"
"Well, I should hope so. We're talking without any argument."
Prince Lucas pauses, then smiles. "Yeah, I guess we are."
We begin talking about our lives before now.
"I would lock myself up in the library all day.." Prince Lucas confesses. "I love books,"
"Me too! Only I wasn't allowed to read all the time, mother and father wouldn't let me."
"I see,"
"So," I say after a moment of us sitting in silence. "How have you enjoyed your stay so far?"
"It's been alright. I've been...walking around the village,"
"Oh? Have you met anyone interesting?"
Prince Lucas pauses. "Yes, actually, quite interesting!"
"Really. Is she anything like me?"
Prince Lucas laughs and leans back in his chair, bringing his glass of tea with him. "No. Personally, Anabelle, you're not my type."
I look back at him in pure surprise, my eyes wide. "Oh really?! Well...you're not my type either!" I stop for a moment, "What is your type?" Why should I care?
I see his eyes widen a little too, and he stutters for a minute. "Um...brown...? Brown hair..and.."
I laugh. "Calm down, you're not on trial or anything."
He slowly smiles too, "Sorry. I guess I've just never really thought about it."
"It's okay. Well, you have brown hair down, so I know it's not me." I reply.
Prince Lucas nods slowly, "Yeah..not you.."
I stand up, "Well, I had a..okay time, Prince Lucas. Thank you for eating with me."
Prince Lucas stands up as well, and gives a bow. "And you, good day Princess." he picks up the long forgotten book and walks off.
Later that afternoon, I'm in my room reading a book when Camden comes into the room. "Can I help you Cam?" I ask her calmly.
She closes the door, "Did he seriously tell you that?!" she exclaims.
"Uh, tell me what?"
"That you're not his type! Like hello, anyone can see that he's totally in love with you already!"
I look at Camden. "How did you even find out!"
Camden looks sheepish as she replies, "Um..some of the maids were spying and..started talking about it as we were preparing dinner..speaking of, dinner is ready."
"Well, yes he did tell me. But why should I care?" I say as I stand up.
"Because.." Camden starts to speak, then pauses.
"Because?"
"If I tell you this, you cannot get mad okay?"
"Why would I be mad?"
"Just promise!" Camden says.
I sigh. "Okay, I promise!"
"Because, Prince Lucas is..."
