"Because..Prince Lucas is.." Camden starts to say. She is cut off by a knock at the door.
"Yes?" I ask.
"It's Lucas. Everyone is wondering where you are, they sent miss Camden to get you but you haven't come yet." his voice is muffled from the door.
"Yes, hold on a minute. I'll be there." I look to Camden, "Tell me later?"
She nods, and I walk out the door. Prince Lucas is standing there waiting for me. "I thought I'd walk with you." he states.
"Very well.."
In the silence of our walk to the dining room I contemplate when I am going to see Luke again.
This is silly!
"What is?" Prince Lucas asks.
"Oh? I said that aloud? Sorry. I was just thinking to myself."
"Ah. I see.." Prince Lucas says.
We walk into the dining room, and I am seated next to him. No doubt due to my parents always making the seating arrangements.
"Ah, good, you're here. We were just discussing the wedding!" Mother states with a smile. Her golden goblet is resting in her fingers.
I sit carefully in the chair as Prince Lucas pulls it in for me. "Oh? What about it?" I ask.
"We were trying to think of what flowers you should have, and if you shall wear my gown or make your own.. Also the food."
"Well. Aren't I allowed to help with this?"
Queen Adalyn laughs. "Of course not dear. Why on earth would you?"
"I..I don't know..I just assumed, since it is my own wedding.." I start to say. Mother cuts me off.
"Oh of course it is my darling. Now let's eat!" she waves her hand as if to dismiss the conversation, to which I stand up in anger.
"No! Mother, this is my wedding. I find that gives me a right to plan my wedding."
"Anabelle, dear. I don't know where you got that silly idea into your head but-"
"Silly? It's silly that I want to make sure that my mother doesn't mess up my wedding?" I exclaim.
"Mess up your..? Anabelle! I'm trying to help you!" Mother replies surprised, she stands up from her seat. "Now you sit down and listen to our plans for you!"
"No!" I yell and quickly move away from the table. Picking up my dress slightly I rush out of the room, ignoring the calls of my parents.
I step out the door of the palace and run to the garden, where I sit on a bench near my favorite flowers. Softly grabbing one of the white roses from the bush, I sigh.
I can hear someone standing behind me, so I speak. "These are the flowers I would've wanted. They're my favorites." I glance over and see it's Prince Lucas. He sits down next to me and touches my arm gently.
"I just wanted to be able to plan my own wedding. I want to be different. I don't want others choosing the cake, or the flowers or the dress. I want it to be my choice." I choke out. Somewhere during my small speech I began to cry, which amazes me.
"Plans don't always work the way we want them to." Prince Lucas says quietly. "Sometimes you have to work with what you have. Stand up for what you want, and if that doesn't work..." Prince Lucas fades off. He turns me towards him, and I stare into his eyes with my own ones full of tears.
His eyes are so mesmerizing...
"We'll be okay, Anabelle..not everything works out like we want but that's alright. Because we'll have each other."
"Even though we don't get along?" I whisper. Prince Lucas chuckles.
"We get along just fine, Princess."
I see him begin to lean close to me, and I suddenly pull back. But I pretend I didn't notice him coming closer by turning to the roses. "Do you think mother would mind if I suggested these?" I ask him.
"I don't think she'd mind at all..." Prince Lucas says after a moment. "Shall I escort you back?" he stands up and holds out his arm.
"You may." I reply and take his arm. We walk to the dining hall and just before we walk in I stop him. Giving him a kiss on the cheek, "Thank you Lucas."
He smiles at me before walking into the hall.
Oh...I just kissed his cheek. I realize. Mentally face palming myself in embarrassment, I walk into the hall.
Great, I think I'm starting to fall for the Prince.
