Violent delights have violent ends.

"Claire, Annie, please get dressed. Your mother wants you to be ready to go shopping with her in half an hour." Said Diane's personal assistant before she left the girls as quickly as she had joined them.

"What is this going to be about?" Sighed Claire as she began to get changed.

"Maybe she is just bored."

"Hopefully, although when she gets bored she shops with her friends." The girls shrugged and got changed knowing they couldn't get out of this.

"Try this one on." Said Diane as she placed yet another designer dress in her daughter's arms. "Annie this one will do wonders for your eyes."

"Mum, what is this for?"

"Well darling, tonight the Dancys are coming for dinner and I would like us all to make a good impression."

"Really?"

"Yes but don't worry as once dinner is over you two can show James around the house while the adults talk. Now go try the dresses on."

Diane had gone all out for this dinner. She had her makeup artist and hairdresser come over in order to have the girls looking just right. The maids and cooks had been working all day to make sure all of Diane's demands were met.

The girls were waiting in the living room when Diane rushed in to collect them. When they walked into the entranceway they saw them.

There the Dancy family stood in the home of the Whitings. All three of them were equally made up with equally fake smiles on their faces.

"Welcome to our home. It is lovely to have you all here." Beamed Diane as she greeted each member of the family with a hug. Micheal, Claire, and Annie followed suit.

When Claire leaned in to hug James he rubbed her back softly and Claire felt some of the tension in her shoulders leave. She wanted to cling onto him. She wanted Annie and James to tightly hug her. Instead, she pulled away and followed her mother into the dining room.

"Now I knew you had Claire but is Annie another family member?" Asked James' mother with a smile at the girl.

"Oh, I'm just Claire's good friend. I'm just staying with the family for a while because I didn't want to be away from Claire after some horrible man hurt her."

"The girls are like twins and Annie is a delight to have around." Smiled Diane as she lay a hand on Annie's shoulder.

Claire wasn't as focused on the conversation as she should be. James was sat across from her and he had taken to running his foot along her leg every time she started to panic.

Somehow the conversation had wandered to the topic of the marriage of Claire and James. Claire cut her cake into smaller and smaller pieces as her father talked about who would be invited.

"I believe that if you two break up before the wedding then you shouldn't have to be married." Said James' mother as she gulped down her wine.

"Don't be ridiculous if they loved each other once then they can love each other again." Replied her husband and Claire's parents nodded in agreement.

"Diane, Micheal, the dinner was delightful. Thank you. Can we be excused so we can give James a tour of the house?" Asked Annie right before Micheal was about to say something.

"That's fine darling." Answered Diane as the teenagers got up to leave.

When Annie closed the door behind them the three let out a sigh of relief.

"I'll leave you two alone." Said Annie as she walked to her room. She was tired and she was ready to spend the rest of the night curled up in bed.

"Do you want to see my room?"

"I already have." Laughed James as he followed Claire up to her room.

When the two returned downstairs their parents were drunk. It had seemed over two hours of talking the four adults had consumed enough hard liquor and wine to become completely intoxicated.

"Ah you'll be happy to marry the pretty little girl when you get older won't you." Said Brian Dancy as he threw his arm around his son's shoulders.

"That's years away Dad. I don't know what I'll think then." James shrugged his father's arm off his shoulders. Brian looked confused for a moment before he put his arm back around his son's shoulders while he gripped his arm tightly. "Maybe we should leave now as it's getting quite late."

"Nonsense." Replied Micheal while Brian gripped his son even harder.

"Yeah, we will stay." Agreed Brian.

"Dad I seriously think we should go."

"Don't talk back."

"Dad, I didn't."

"There you did it again."

"I just think.." James was cut off when Brian twisted his body and punched his son with a quick right hook.

Claire acted immediately and took the hand of her boyfriend as she dragged him out of there. She pushed them both into the nearest bathroom and quickly locked the door behind them all while Micheal laughed in the background.

"Holy shit. He just punched you." Said Claire as she began to pace the bathroom.

James grabbed his girlfriend by the hips and pulled her into a hug. He lifted her up onto the bathroom bench and stood in between her legs in order to hold her closer to him.

James lightly kissed the top of Claire's head. Claire tightened her grip of his stomach. Slowly their breathing slowed and James stopped shaking.

"Are you okay?"

"It's hardly the first time." Laughed James, his voice bitter and venomous.

"Oh my God." Breathed Claire as tears began to slide down her cheeks. Despite the tears, she grabbed a face cloth, wet it, and began to wipe the blood that had spilled out of her boyfriend's nose.

"Can that wait? I just want to hold you." Claire dropped the cloth. She wrapped her arms around his once again.

"What are we going to do?" Whispered Claire as her tears began to soak James' shirt.

"We will figure it out. You and I are in this together okay?"
