I groaned as ray of sunlight battered against my eye. “You got mail!” exclaimed my phone. Yawning, I rolled over to the bedpost and grabbed my phone. I sighed happily, another text from her. It had been a few days after the incident now and my life was surprisingly better, mostly due to Chelsea Paige, the girl whom brought me to the nurse’s office that Friday. She walked me home after I felt better and even gave me her phone number. For the first time in an eternity, I felt good. Turning over, I texted her back, explaining that on Monday she should go to the office to get her schedule before going to a classroom. I finally got a friend, I thought smiling. Though she was a new student, we got along pretty well and always texted me about school stuff. Her pretty face filled my mind as I imagined the two of us laughing and hanging out. One more day until I could see her again!

As I went through my daily routine; eating breakfast, playing video games, doing homework, and reading, my grandparents (whom I lived with since my parents died) noted my unusually happy behavior and asked me if anything was wrong. My answer was always a happy sigh as I drifted off into my own fantasy.

I looked around the crowded halls, ignoring the girls who stood there and gossiped and the guys who were huddled around a smartphone. All I was looking and waiting for was her. I rounded a corner and to my surprise saw her cornered  by Jordan and his fellow bullies. Feeling two types of emotion, fear and anger, I hesitated on helping her. She seemed confident enough to deal with them, however the spark in her eyes revealed the panic she felt within. She didn’t seem to see me however, making me question whether to help her or not. Anyone could see that I was no match for them. However, when I saw them push her down, all rational thoughts flew out of my mind. Without thinking, I ran straight at Jordan and landed a punch against his right arm. Noticing me for the first time, he laughed.

“Hey look guys, who do we have here again?” His cronies laughed maniacally. I sneered at them, “Look at you guys, pathetic excuses for men. You guys are trying to hard to be Draco Malfoy and his gang. Better get out of here of I’ll call Dumbledore here to whip your ass.” At first, their low intellect and lack of reading took them a while to process that I insulted them.

“Hustle up boys, we got some job to do.”  With menacing glares, they stalked up to me. Holding me up by the ends of my hair, “Crabbe” starting punching my stomach and “Goyle” kicked my member. “Draco” laughed with a beastiality likewise to Voldemort. Luckily, my “Cho Chang” who sat there watching the whole thing quickly got up and tried to protect me.

Jordan and his sidekicks laughed, but everyone was surprised when she kicked Jordan in the balls and elbowed Brody in the ribs. I was shocked and embarrassed by the fact that instead of saving her, I made the situation so that she had to come to my rescue. A second time. Before they knew what hit them, she dragged me by the hood and ran, carrying me, all the way to the office. At first I thought she was reporting me, but as we got to the door, she released her hand and frowned. “I’m sorry-” I began, but stopped when she suddenly smiled and started laughing, her giggles echoing throughout the hall.

“I didn’t know you were a reader!? And that reference from Harry Potter? That was so funny!” She exclaimed happily. Another surprise. She threw her arms around me in an embrace and smiled. “You’re so cute you know,” and continued whispering with her lovely cute voice, “I want to get to know you better, so would you like to go hang out after school ends?”

Blushing all the way to my “thing”, I scratched my head, too embarrassed to say anything. “Yeah, I would like to go…” Squealing, she jumped up and calmed herself.

“Take the commotion out the door please!” exclaimed the office head, Ms. Shria. Pouting our lips, we were led out the door.

By the hand, she led me out the door. Looking around, I noticed that the hallways that were once filled were now empty. Shit. I was late. She must have realized it too because she waved a goodbye. “See you after school!” she shouted as she ran back down the hallway to her next class. I waved back, thinking already of hanging out later.
