For Dazai, many people in the world were outright foolish. Foolish people were a blessing. He did not hold great affections or respect for anybody whatsoever. So whenever he'd manipulate fools to do his bidding, his conscience did not trouble him at all. Ignorance on the part of the other party was something that made Dazai jump with joy. More stupid people begging to become his servants !
Call it fate, call it serendipity, there was no denying the fact that the current situation he found himself in was, more or less, unavoidable. His days at the estate of Chelster Hall were going in a leisurely pace. He had recently set up a 'coincidental' meeting with the chief of the special abilities department. The meeting was to take place that evening at a local bar, a little outside of Yokohama.
What was getting under Dazai's skin, was the fact that him despite being him, had yet not gauged his predecessor's intelligence. If she happened to be smart enough, he will make her privy to his schemes. If not, he might as well manipulate her. Sadly, she was such an eccentric soul, he had a difficult time determining if she was serious or if she was stoned.
In recent days, he had observed many peculiar things about her. Some were simple like her obvious affection towards animals. The way she treated them like her own children made a shudder go through Dazai. If he can't understand something he doesn't like it, was his simple reasoning.
He had also discovered her liking for coconut water. It seemed to be the only thing he had ever seen her drinking.
Other things, he had seen, that would not be as normal was that she disliked sitting properly on furniture meant to sit on. She'd never sit on a chair or sofa, instead she'd settle down on the armrest on the backrest. She would sit on windowsills, support beams of the mansion or even on the edge of the roof. When Dazai had voiced his observation. She had wrily replied,
"What can I say? I'm edgy.."
Dazai made sure he threw the heaviest rock in the garden at her head.
"Ne, Yoko San.." his smooth voice calls out. "Let's play a game of chess, shall we?"
"Why?" She chuckles at his sudden proposition.
"I want to see if I can win against you." He smiles sweetly.
"So you want to compare our intellects?" She smiles amused.
He grumbles in annoyance. She knew so much about him. His life at the mafia, the people he asociated with. His love for suicide. And him? He knew nothing about her. What if he wants to know her intelligence levels? Can't he know atleast that much? It's not like he is asking her for her life story. Unintentionally, a low whine escapes his mouth.
"Would you look at that Mi-chan? Out teenager is finally throwing a tantrum. I'd started worrying why he does not act his age." She smiles, running her fingers through the fur of the cat that sits besides her.
Dazai recognises that cat, hell he'd recognise that orange, brown and white cat anywhere.
"Sensei...?" Dazai questions lowly.
"Oh! He recognises you! Did you blow your cover or is he really as smart as you say, eh Mi-chan?"
She talks with almost a little reverence in her voice. The cat on the other hand licks it's paws and stretches itself. Paying no attention to her, it gives a soft purr and leaps down the table both of them are sitting on. It disappears through the door without further ado.
"He always gets angry whenever I call him by that weird petname of his." She giggles.
Dazai on the other hand has conflicted look on his face. His face darkens and his brows furrow.
