The letter box rattled as the envelope addressed to Nadia was pushed through and floated its way to the floor. There was no address so it must have been hand delivered by the writer. Nadia being home alone and no other noise in the house apart from her breathing, heard it rattle and took to her feet to retrieve it. Bending down, she frowned as she noticed it was written to her. Not in disappointment but confusion, who would be writing to her? She had in total three friends and wasn't the most popular girl around.

Her slender fingers tore open the paper and pulled out a small sheet of card, written on it was only a few words.

'Nadia, I've never been able to tell you what I think so instead I've written it down.

1. I love the way you smile, your whole face lights up like you don't have a care in the world. Its beautiful, just like you.

yours truly,
C x'

Although her heart was melting from the beautiful words, she couldn't help but notice how it was signed off. She didn't know anyone who's name began with C. Her heart was beating 100 times faster than usual and was banging against her ribcage. She had never had someone say something like that to her before so her reaction was unsteady.

She took the beautifully written note upstairs and stored it away in her bedside draw, keeping it safe from the eyes of her older sister. Her family weren't ones to be happy about a situation like this, they'd probably throw it in the shredder and accuse her of writing it to herself.

The rest of the day and the night that followed, she couldn't stop thinking of those words or who could have possibly written them to her.

Although what she didn't know was that that would be the first of many.
