Chapter 11: Old Connections

I woke up to the sensation of cold metal pressed against my back and head. My head and thoughts were still foggy as I tried to sit up, only to realize I was tied down to the metallic table. Using my telekinetic powers i tried to remove the restraints, but I couldn't even budge them. My thoughts were to scattered to be able to focus enough- after all, I had only had the power for a week.

The room I was in was basically empty, except for the table I was on, and a computer desk covered in electronics. Figuring I should call for help, I opened my mouth and tried to yell. But my throat was dry and only a small squeak came out. I began to panic even more when there was a knock on the door.

The big metal door creaked open, and a thin man with wild white hair entered. He stopped in the doorway and clutched his chest.

"Well, what have we here! You're looking well. Of course I only saw you for a short time- but nevertheless. Glad to see your powers haven't affected you physically- you were the perfect test subject."

I decided that the best way to get information out of this guy was to play dumb.

"Powers- what powers?"

"You know silly- the ones I gave you! Oh but you probably forgot about me. My name is Chris Wench."

The name seemed familiar, but I was so unable to think that I couldn't place it.

"Oh well now I'm offended. I can understand though, the drug I gave you not only knocked you out long enough for the drive but also made it difficult to process thoughts correctly. Pretty impressive, if I do say so my self. But I did develop it, so I'm biased. What were we talking about? Oh yes, who I am. I'm the guy that messed with your procedure thingy- you know, made you a superhero and all."

"Wait, you're him? But- but..."

"Yes I know I don't look like him but, what can I say? Being trapped in a chemical fire can really change a man. So anyways you're probably wondering why I kidnapped you. A very reasonable thought I might add. You were my very first human trial- I wasn't sure that you'd make it or not. But low and behold you did- and exceeded all my expectations. But anyways I brought you here because I'm not finished with my experiments."

Confused beyond words, I decided that it was best to be quiet and let him ramble on. That chemical fire from the my surgery must have done more than alter his appearance.

"Now you're probably wondering why I don't just leave you alone and go and test someone else. Well it's because I discovered that for some reason the formula I developed only works with your exact genetics. Isn't that wild? So I figure that I'll take a sample of your blood and try and perfect it. I tried it- but it didn't work! Nothing works- unless it's on you. So I'm going to do one last experiment. Son! Bring in the equipment!"

A few moments later Chris's son appeared with a big box overflowing with what looked to me like junk. But the most surprising thing was that his son was Joe, the kid I had been tutoring.

"Joe?"

He opened his mouth to talk, but was cut off by his father.

"Yep, this is my son. I planted him in your school just so I could secretly capture you."

Together they began to work silently at the computer desk. Chris whispered something to Joe, and he walked over to me with a gas mask. I couldn't struggle because my mind was racing so quickly trying to process everything going on. As gas began to get pumped into the mask, I could feel myself get knocked out for the second time. Before I was out, I saw and heard Joe say-

"I'm sorry, I don't want to do this. But he made me."

{Hey guys! Sorry it took me so long to update- I've been super busy with the holidays, as I'm sure you've been also. I hope you're enjoying the story! A lot is going to change next chapter, so I hope you are all prepared ;) Happy reading!!!}
