Peace wasn't a thing that Ruby could define anymore now that one of the most precious people she valued was permanently sievered from her life.
At least she still had Terry, Jason and Christian not forgetting Rachael. They were now the closest thing Ruby had to family in New Zealand, although she knew that she had family members from her dad's family in Ireland she was yet to meet and get to know. Ruby knew that she could always count on her favourite neighbours to be there and support her, help her decide what to do from now onwards. As much as she was wanting to deny it she really had no reason to stay here in New Zealand anymore.
Though Ruby had grown to know Jason and Christian twin brothers and there single mum Terry as neighbours when the 3 of them moved in when Ruby was 4 years old, she started dating Jason for nearly four years and had fallen in love with him.
Now more then ever she was feeling a spiritual pull towards her dad, she had to face the fact that her mum was gone for good and nothing would ever fill the empty void in her life, not even Jason could understand no one but her dad Alex would be able to help her with the loss of her mum.
Well then again Ruby was barely copimg being in that house that had her mums smell and escence all over it. Maybe it would be a better idea to go where no one else would know her and give her a huge pity party like Terry, Jase, Christian and Rachael was guilty of giving her at the moment.
It was so hard for Ruby a few days before all she had to worry about was packing the right clothes for her hoilday in Ireland but now she felt like she was forced to become an adult about her situation of remaining in New Zealand with her best friend and her first true love or moving half way around the world and living with her stranger of a dad and his family she has never meet or even heard about.
Bang, bang, bang came a knock at her front door. "Coming" yelled Ruby from the kitchen as she washed and dried her hands and went to answeer the door. It was Rachael her best friend, "Hi sweetie, just thought I'd drop in and visit for a while hope your not too busy." Rachael said in her constantly calm voice. "Your family darling you know it's always good to have you over, come on in I was just making me and Alex some breakfast, come help me.
Rachael looked the total opposite to Ruby. She had brillantly auburn hair that had a wavy flow of natural curls down the back of her shoulders, a quite olive brown skin tone and light brown eyes. Ruby had a pale white complexion, natural fierce fire red thin hair that she found so hard to style sometimes, and nearly what some people would describe as forest green eyes.
"Oh so your still calling your dad Alex?, sorry darling I just find it different, my dad would die of a heart attack if I started calling him Tane out of nowhere and not dad that's all." Rachael commented with a soft faint smile.
"Well it kind of seems weird for me to call him dad since I only ever see my part time dad twice a year, and as you know were not as close as you and your dad are Rach for me to feel comfortable enough to use the "d.a.d word." Ruby said as she turned on the element and filled a frying pan with a knob of butter before getting the bacon out of the fridge.
"Oh yummy Bacon and Eggs on toast again is it Rachael said cheerfully as she grabbed some eggs out of the egg basket a bowl out of the cupboard and whisked the eggs with some milk.
"So how is it having your dad here in the house?" Rachael tried not to sound like she was prying. "Hmm, yeah well everything now that mum's gone seems wierd and out of place Rach and living here without ever hearing mum bang through that door at all hours of the morning after work is hard to bare, I've been thinking a bit more about Alex wanting me to move back to Ireland and it's sounding more appealing as each hour ticks by. I know that you have been my friend since the beggining of time but I really find it hard living here after mums passing on".
"Well Rubs you know that your the sister I never had and love you heaps, but if you need to go, you need to go. I could always get a part time job save some cash and come on hoilday, email and skype I'm sure we can work something out. But there's one thing I'm not doing!! I'm not saying goodbye to my best friend forever got that" "Ok Rach, what would I do without you, your the most understanding person I know, well you sure are making my decision easier I just don't know how Jase is going to take this news if I do decide to move in with Alex.
