Chapter 11

Leena knew she was in trouble with Andreas, but she was a woman who stood her ground regardless of the consequences. Her heart felt broken as she faced the man who had both treated her with contempt and made her heart melt under his gaze. His mother was dying, and it didn't matter what happened now, she would always hold his contempt. She could feel his icy gaze rake over her body with bitterness.

"I'm so sorry. I can't." Ike stated before he collapsed onto the chair, put his face into his hands, then sobbed loudly in the hallway. Leena felt like he was mourning the loss of someone who wasn't dead yet. It would be better to spend this time with Margaret enjoying their last moments together.

"You." Andreas sputtered out as he pointed towards Leena with a dark expression of contempt that sent shivers down her spine. "You will tell me everything later. Alone. You will not run away from me this time." Andreas hissed into her ear while grabbing onto her wrist tightly. Leena tried to break from his terse frame, but his grip was firm and dangerous. She stood still as he brushed a strand of hair away from her face to see her darkened gaze. His hand cupped her face and she leaned into his body for a moment.

Despite the fact that she knew it was a bad idea, she wanted to have someone to comfort her. She could feel his frame shaking with anger as he leaned into her taut body and breathed in her scent. They stood like that for a minute before he pushed away from her.

"And you." Andreas stated as he grabbed onto Ike's shoulder to shake him from his broken state of mind. "You will go in to see your wife and wash yourself off. You won't let my mom see you like this. It would break her heart. Do you understand me?" Andreas stated as he shook Ike out of his trance.

Ike seemed to collect himself at the mention of Margaret. Leena was grateful for that, but there was still the matter of getting through the next terrible few months. Margaret was going to die soon. Ike would need to make his peace with that for their kids.

"Ok, I can do that. I shouldn't have lied to you. You are family." Ike stated softly to a dejected looking Andreas. Andreas nodded absently before offering his father in law a hand.

Ike looked at Andreas deeply before taking that hand reluctantly. Leena felt the tension of the moment seep away. There were still secrets to be talked about, but they were putting those aside for the right now.

"Let's just get you to the waiting room for a few minutes. Mark and his wife Carmina are here, and they were looking to take you out for dinner. They are good people, and they traveled all this way." Andreas stated as he guided Ike towards the waiting room area. Leena followed behind as the three of them walked down the corridors.

It was darker out now and Leena felt her stomach grumbling in hunger because she hadn't bothered to eat anything at all today. They were back at the waiting room where the couple Mark and Carmina sat with their hands clasped nervously. Ike appeared angered as the angelic looking girl from earlier, blonde bombshell, bounded towards Ike's side with her long golden locks flowing so perfectly as she moved.

"Ike, Mom and Dad were looking all over for you!" The blonde backed away awkwardly when no one responded to her presence, and instead of meeting Ike's stern gaze, she kept playing with the frilly strands of her dress.

Leena wondered why Ike was so anxious to get away from this seemingly kindhearted woman, but Leena would have to save my questions for later.

Leena met the gaze of this brown eyed beauty as she stood with her perfectly manicured fingernails clutching onto Ike's arm.

"Care to introduce me to your friend?", Leena asked as the silence drew on for too long.

Ike seemed still as a statue for the briefest of moments before removing the girl's manicured fingers from his arm. Ike turned to face Leena with a terse expression, clearly exhausted and agitated by her presence. Leena had never seen Ike so bothered by anyone in all the years Leena had known him and, even though Barbie princess over there seemed nice enough, Leena was wary of getting close to her.
