SHE DIDN'T want to go to work that day

SHE DIDN'T want to go to work that day. God, she had no idea what to do. She and Rosa had kissed again, and she wasn't sure what that meant. She thought of any way to get out of going. Hmm... Thanksgiving was today, but her family didn't celebrate. She never got sick, so that wouldn't be believable. Ugh. She would have to go to work and face Rosa, wouldn't she?

Hoping to be a bit late, Jamie stretched out her morning routine. Maybe, if she got there later, Rosa would already be on a case, so they wouldn't interact. Her shower lasted ten minutes instead of her usual five- perfectly timed with a specially curated playlist- and she took her time picking out an outfit, even though she knew it wouldn't take that much effort. She eventually decided on a tight red sweater and high waisted jeans, putting on her trusty combat boots and favorite leather jacket. She felt kind of badass, especially after she did her makeup. It had always made her feel powerful, and by the time she had left her house, she had almost completely forgotten that she was in a dilemma of drastic proportions.

She took the subway like she did every day, her headphones in and music blaring. She'd settled on a playlist she'd labeled 'I'm A Bad Bitch,' more than happy to listen to something as good- again, a perfectly curated playlist- while feeling like the baddest bitch in town. She wouldn't face Rosa, not even a little bit. For good measure, she stopped at the food cart next to the precinct and got a bagel and coffee, walking into the precinct a lovely fifteen minutes late. No one was in the briefing room, and she smiled, settling down at her desk for the day. She would avoid Rosa after all.

Or not.

The captain and his husband walked in, earning the attention of the squad. Well, except for Jake and Amy, who were noticeably missing. That was weird; Jake always wanted to be in the captain's business. Regardless, Jamie approached as Holt and Kevin came to a halt, a small smile on her lips as Hitchcock and Scully deduced what was inside the box Holt held: a pie. Damn, they were bad cops, but they didn't mess around when it came to food.

"Damn, that was impressive!" said Terry, and Rosa crossed her arms beside him, but Jamie could tell she was impressed in her weird Rosa way. Jamie, on the other side of Terry, made sure not to make eye contact with the woman. She was too nervous about the previous night for that.

Her mind was so caught up in ways to avoid Rosa at all costs that she missed a good portion of the conversation, tuning back in as Holt said, "We're bringing it to Kevin's parents' house tonight." Jamie aptly assumed he meant the pie.

"Can't wait," Kevin agreed, though he sounded like he was anything but enthused, which made Jamie quirk an eyebrow. "What do you all have planned for Turkey Day?"

Jamie couldn't help but feel like Kevin really didn't want to be in this room of cops. She'd heard he only really liked civilians, but she had never officially met him to put that to the test.
