Gene's morning started like any other; he got up, took a shower, got dressed, brushed his teeth, and ate breakfast. This morning, he would finally show his coworkers his invention - the Futuroid. He had just perfected it two days earlier, and he was so excited to use it. He put a box of the photos he had taken in the trunk of his car. The Futuroid was still too delicate to move, so he decided to leave it at his house. All he had to do was drive the 6 minutes to his job...

George was playing hide-and-seek with Alec whenever he heard the news. He saw his mom crying when she came in the house. His mom never cried. He wondered what was going on, but he decided it would be best to leave his mom alone until she felt better.

Kennedy walked into her room, trying not to cry in front of the boys. She couldn't believe it, wouldn't believe that it had happened. Gene had run headfirst into an eighteen wheeler. He was killed on the spot. It took a few hours, but she finally gathered up the courage to tell Alec and George what had happened. She walked into the living room where she saw her sons playing hide-and-seek. She gently guided them to the couch and told them to sit down.

"Hey guys, I have something to tell you."

"What is it, Mom?" asked Alec.

"Are you okay?" asked George.

Kennedy held back tears as she told them, " We... we won't be able to go see Uncle Gene anymore. He's gone," she said as tears spilled down her face.

"Where did he go, Mom?" Alec asked, unaware of what she meant.

George knew what it meant. He felt dazed.

"Somewhere... far away," His mother replied.

George stared at his mother. That was all he could do. He felt like his world had been turned upside down and there was cotton in his ears. The only thing he could feel was the dryness in his mouth and a knot in his throat. He quickly ran into his room to be alone. Alec stayed in the living room, confused about what had happened.
