The day that caused my restless nights, the screeching of the tires so vivid in my ears that it makes me think I'm still in the car sometimes. The day my parents eyes lay wide open, body's limp in their seats as I feel paralyzed in my own, sirens wailing as they get closer and closer to the scene.
The day I walked into my adopted parents living room to be told the house rules in which I would have to become accustomed to. The day I had to go to a new school in the middle of the year, knowing no one.
The night I lay awake in my bed at 3:00AM because I woke up from a nightmare, a scene that replayed in my head like a broken record.
The night I sit in my bed, hugging my firm pillow, trying to bring back memories of my mother, how it felt to be hugging her, wishing I had never asked to go to the beach that day.
That day.
That day is when I was lost.
