Tucked between trees and mountains, somewhere in Ireland, is a small little town called Herden. On one cold night in the middle of winter something strange happened. The cold frosty night air turned into a warm breeze coming from the mountains. A hooded man with three little kids rushed down a dark street and stopped in front of Ms Peppa's Orphanage. The man crouched down and whispered something to the children only to be cut short by the sudden opening of the orphanage door and one could swear that the man vanished into thin air. The lady that opened the door looked down and saw a boy and a girl that were twins and a younger girl holding onto the older girl's hand. The lady sighed and let the children inside. She looked around outside once more and closed the door behind her.

Read that before, read that one, might read that one again. There's nothing new. All these books I read before.
"Cheryl, did the new stock come in this morning?", I asked as I walked back to the bookstores front counter. "Sorry Darling, nothin yet. Did order them last week, but yoose know they take forever", said Cheryl as she walked around the counter to the nearest bookshelf. "Why don't yoose read this again?", she said as she pointed her red nail to "The house of whispers" by Charlie Adams. "I remember you going on about it to all the customers". I sighed and looked at the book for a moment before taking it.
"Might as well. Anything just to escape that hellhole of a place". Cheryl gave me a sympathetic smile and I forced a smile back.
"Just remember the rules Darling".
"Yeah, yeah, bring back the book the way I found it or it's coming out of my pay check", I said and put the book into my bag and started to walk to the front door.
"See you tomorrow Darling, enjoy the rest of your day off", said Cheryl as she sat back down behind the counter. As I turned around to wave goodbye to Cheryl, I bumped into a lady.
"Oops, sorry", I said. She just looked at me with a face full of shock, I thought she might yell at me for not looking where I was going, but her face turned soft. She gave me a smile and said with a British accent, "No don't worry about it love, it was my fault". Haven't heard another British person for a while. I smiled at her and started to walk away but she kept staring at me until Cheryl said something and the woman's attention turned to her. A cool breeze ruffled through my hair as I stepped outside the store and the smell of coffee travelled with it from the café across the street. I looked over to see my brother taking someone's order. His dark brown curly hair was all over the place and he was wearing that stupid shirt again. He says it bring out his green eyes. Yeah right. Idiot.
Sometimes I hated that we looked so much like each other. But hey there's nothing I can do about it.
I looked towards the park and saw an open bench beneath the tree in some shade. Thank goodness, because I hate the heat of summer.
As I wanted to walk across the streets, Chad and his pack of dogs came around the corner. I wanted to run but they already saw me, and my legs went numb.
"Well well, yur majesty, it's a honour to see tha pretty face of yurs again", said Chad and made a little bow. The boys behind him giggled. I just stared at him and tried to fight the cold feeling raising inside my tummy. He rose from his bow and his eyes travelled all over me and that cold feeling burst into ice running through my veins. He gave me a wicked smile and said," When are you going to stop putting your nose in those books and put on a cheerleading outfit like the rest of the pretty girls?" He took a step closer and I held my breath as he whispered," I so terribly want to hear you screamin me name along the soccer field". I turned so cold that the summer heat burnt against my skin and all I wanted to do is punch him in the face. His smile grew even more wicked and before he could say something else, water splashed against him from behind, leaving him soaking wet. He turned around angerly to see one of his friends looking at his empty water bottle in confusion. "Chad mate. It.. it wasn't me", said the boy, almost shaking in his pants. "Like hell it wasn't!", said Chad as he leapt for the boy and they started rolling around on the ground. All the other boys gather around them screaming, "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!". I quickly walked around them just to get away before they notice that I'm leaving. I will never understand the male species.

The park was very quiet considering what time it was. There are usually kids playing on the jungle-gym and people jogging around but there was only one kid kicking a ball around and his mother was sitting underneath a tree, writing something in a book and would just look up now and then. I prefer the quite – less distractions – but I have this strange feeling that someone else is also here. Watching me. I opened my book and erased the thought from my mind.

The sun began to set as I closed my book. The mother and her son left a few minutes ago and I think I should leave as well, because the feeling of being watched came back, although I could not see anyone else. Don't want to be on the news tomorrow as the girl they found dead in the lake.
The evening star was already out as I was walking home. Shining brighter than I have ever seen. A cool breeze swept through my hair and I could smell that night fall was near.
I love this time of day.
Purple, pink and orange colours painted the sky as the sun was setting. The earth cooled down and the night was rolling in with its beauty of stars. Everything just felt so peaceful and calmer to me. Sometimes, I would sneak out of the orphanage and just go sit somewhere quiet, watching the night sky and it's beautiful display of stars. Like diamonds that a jeweler set out for everyone to admire. My brother would sometimes join me, but my sister wasn't that fond of the night. She was much more of a morning and sunrise person.
I could hear the shouting and screaming of the orphanage two houses down the street. I stood in front of the door for a few second before I went in, preparing myself mentally. I opened the door and Derick and Sheldon almost ran me over.
"Stop runnin in the house you devils!", Peppa shouted at them as she came out of the kitchen wearing an apron full of food stains, fluffy pink slippers and curlers in her hair "And where the bloody hell have yoose been!", she yelled at me.
"Sorry Peppa, I lost track of time", I said as I closed the door.
"You better watch it Clarabell, one of these days I'm going to have it up to here with yoose and your siblings and then you'll be out of this house yoose hear me".
"Yes, Peppa. Sorry Peppa", I said as I walked past her to my room. Sheldon and Derick were watching around the corner and stuck out their tongues at me as I passed them. I hissed at them and they ran away.
Our room is very small. There is one bunk bed and one single bed that were pushed together so that it can fit into the room. The only access is the end of the single bed. Raynard sometimes steps on me when he gets down from the top bunk. The only other thing in the room is one trunk with all our clothes in.
When I walked in Irene and Raynard were lying on the bed. Irene, who had light brown hair, brown eyes and the face of innocence, was busy reading a book about the different cultures of the world and Raynard was just staring at the ceiling.
"Went reading in the park again?", asked Irene as she lowered her book to look at me. "Yeah", I said as I put my bag down at the foot of the bed and crawled up next to her.
"I had an encounter with Chad today", I said. Raynard suddenly sat up straight.
"What did the dick face tell you this time?" he asked. "Ag the usual, nothing I couldn't handle" I said while giving Raynard a smile. "It's not a joke Clarabell" he said throwing his legs over the edge of the bed. "Yeah well what can we do about it? No one is going to believe the orphan children compared to the golden boy of this town", I snapped at him. Raynard's jaw tightened and a fire lit inside my tummy, that's how I knew he was getting angry. Morgan says it might be the twin thing everyone keeps on talking about. You know, feeling what the other one feels.
"One day I'm just going to have enough of his bullshit, and I don't care who he is" Raynard snapped back. There was now a raging fire in my stomach. I looked at him and tried to think of something to calm him down. "Well when you do, at least you'll have your fierce sisters for help", I said while flexing my arm muscles and putting on a fierce face. He looked at me and said, "Those scrawny things won't do shit". His mouth then twisted into a little smile, but his eyes faded into something sadder and the fire in my stomach died. I knew he realised that no matter what he does, he will never win against Chad. Not in the fight, oh no Raynard would hand Chad's ass to him, but it would cause us to be separated.
I turned to Irene and brushed her hair out of her face and said "How was your day Rena?".
"Okay. I went to Shelly today and helped her mom bake a cake. Her mom invited us to come over one day before the summer holiday ends". I smiled at her and kissed her on her forehead. Little does she know that Shelly's Mom doesn't even like us. I overheard her talking about us in the bookshop the other day, saying that she doesn't really want Shelly to be friends with Irene, because she's scared our orphan behaviour would rub off on her daughter. But Shelly is Irene's best friend and I didn't want to ruin their relationship, so I never told her about it.
I gazed outside of the window and something caught my eye. I stood up to go look what it was and saw animal eyes staring right at me from a dark patch across the street. "Uhm guys, come and look at this" I said as I turned to my brother and sister, but when I turned back it was gone.
"What is it?" asked Raynard as he stood up and looked outside the window.
"There was a pair of animal eyes right there looking at me, but it's gone now".
"Right Clarabell, no more reading at night", said Raynard as he was still looking around outside. "Like you don't see stuff. Your hallucinations are probably from all those scary movies you watch", I said as I nudged him with my elbow. We all stared outside for a few seconds more before turning around and flopping on the bed again.
Not long after, we all drifted off to sleep. And I could swear even in my sleep it felt like something was still watching me.
