I sat near the window in Theo's or well my father's office. Staring at my tea. Focusing on the heat as it was the only thing that made sense at that moment - trying not to think of how exhausted I felt. Which automatically puts me in a grumpy mood.
After the hugging and crying session in the doll house, Theo and Helena haven't spoken to us much. Everyone just kept staring at us, like we were these fragile things that could break at any moment.
Even Irene just sat their. Looking all guilty. Good.
"Well is someone going to start explaining or are we just going sit here while you stare at us like we going to fall apart at any moment?", I snapped.
"Bell-", Irene started.
"No you don't get to saying anything at this point".
Clodovea rolled her eyes, "I understand that you are confused and tired Clarabell, but that's no need to be rude to Irene. She did what was best for you and Raynard".
"Why don't you just mind your own business!"
"Girls please", my Father said in a strict voice, "We have enough going on already and we don't need you two fighting right now". I looked out of the window at the night sky in order to calm myself down. I knew I was being a tad over dramatic, but I was just so tired.
Raynard then took my hand and squeezed it. His warmth stinging against my skin. I guess having something called elementis power explains that and a lot of other things. But it did helped sooth my anger a bit.
"Let's start with what you can remember?", asked our Mother.
I couldn't look at them yet. So I just looked at Raynard and as if he could read my mind, he went first.
"The last hour is a bit of a blur. How we got to the doll house I'm still not sure, but I guess that has to do with us-," he looked at me then back at them", still can't believe I'm saying this, but has to do with us possessing... magic..."
My heart almost skipped a beat when he said magic. Every scientific explanation in my head was telling me this is impossible, but yet here we are...
Our Mother and Father looked at each other then back at us.
"Yes", she said," and technically it's called being a wizard and a witch".
"Anything else?", Father asked.
"Well besides the obvious that you are our real parents. We are also not an ordinary... wizard and witch," he looked at our Mother, " but a wizard prince and witch princess with some unique power called elementis power, which only royal blood possesses."
"Ok good. It seems like the important things you can remember. We don't have to take the complete trip down memory lane today, but it will be good to know if there is still any memories that are being blocked", said our Father.
"Being blocked?", Raynard asked.
"Yes, we believe a dark spell was preformed on you to block and replace your memories. We don't know the extend and the power of the spell but by judging the amount of time it took for you and Bell to retrieve your memories it seems that it was a quite dangerous and powerful spell and it would be excepted that not all your memories would be unblocked at once. We still don't know why Irene retrieved hers so much earlier than you two, but we can discuss this later", my father then moved a bit forward in his chair, " is there anything else that you can remember?".
Before Raynard could say anything I said, "you all have companions. Teddy, the mongoose, belongs to Father. Lady, the Eurasian lynx, belongs to Mother. Alaska, the white wolf, belongs to Clodovea. Luca, the baby panther, belongs to Claudia. And Loki, the bengal cat, belongs to Aunt Vicky. We don't have companions yet, as you only receive the bond when you are 13." My Father then whistled and the office door open and all the companions entered. Glowing green.
"Father has two siblings, Aunty Vicky, full name Victoria, and Uncle Eddie, full name Edward", everyone stiffened when I said his name, especially Claudia," Mother is an only child". I looked at all the companions as they settled next to who they belonged to. "And the reason why the companions are glowing green is because you used a disguising spell on them that will make them invisible to any wizard or witch, except from those with royal blood in their veins, or those who have been claimed as royalty, that's why they appear as if they are glowing green. Angus taught that to us, using his companion, Marty the otter, as an example. I was four years old".
I looked at Raynard, and he nodded, suggesting he also remembers it.
"I remember everything. Down to the smallest details. I even remember that night. When he took us". Looks were exchanged among everyone.
"We don't have to talk about it now", my Mother said and put her hand on my leg. "I think you've been through enough for now and need to rest". I wanted to argue against it as I so badly wanted answers and explanations so that I can put this mess together. But she was right. I am exhausted and reliving that night might be a bad idea now. So I just nodded.
"We can continue this in the morning", said our Father as he stood up. Everyone else then followed.
Irene walked over to me but before she could say anything I said, "Not now Rena. We can talk about it tomorrow". And I left the office.
I know she wouldn't do anything on purpose to hurt us. And what Clodovea said might make more sense tomorrow. But I couldn't shake the feeling of being betrayed. Or that she kept a secret from us so easily.
When I entered my room I flopped onto my bed and within seconds I was fast asleep.
I dreamt about my childhood in the castle. They were probably just memories that were replaying in my head, but one memory seemed to constantly appear.
It was late at night and I was sitting in the library on the floor with that book. The one called "To steel a star", that I found in the bookshop. I kept on staring at the moving stars on the page. The lady that I keep on seeing was sitting next to me and reading the book to me. My father then entered and the lady vanished.
"Bell? Who are you talking too?", he asked.
"To the lady that was reading the book to me", I replied. He looked around in the library, then looked at me again.
"What lady Bell? There's no one here".
"Well she was here a second ago. She probably went to go get some tea", I said as I followed the moving stars with my finger.
"What are you doing?", he asked.
"I'm following the moving stars with my finger". My father crouched down and frowned at the book.
"I think it's time for bed Bell, it's very much past your bed time", he took the book and closed it.
"But Daddy, what if the lady comes back and I'm not here?"
"Bell that's enough now. It's time for bed". Something inside me started to swirl and grow like a misty fog rolling in.
"No!", I yelled and all the books around me fell of the shelves.
"Now Bell what did I told you about using your magic when you are angry?" He asked in calm voice.
I crossed my arms and refused to answer him.
"I'm going to count to three and if you don't answer me you will be grounded. One... Two... Th-"
"I can hurt someone", I mumbled.
"I couldn't hear that". I sighed, uncrossed my arms and closed my eyes to calm myself down. That misty fog disappearing.
"I can hurt someone", I said in a clear and calm voice.
"That's my girl. Now what about some hot chocolate before bed? Just don't tell Mommy". He extended his hand towards me. I smiled then nodded and took his hand.
I dreamt this about five times before I woke up.
How did the book end up in the book shop?
Why couldn't my father also see the stars moving?
Who is this lady I keep on seeing?
