Flashback continues.
"Welcome home Jungkookie!" Mrs. Jeon said. I just smiled and nodded. "Are you hungry?" she asked. I couldn't answer. I didn't know her well enough to answer, mom always told me not to take things from strangers. She was a stranger to me too. But she said she was my mom. Is it possible to have more than 1 mom?
"Jungkookie!" Mrs. Jeon repeated herself and I looked at her. "Are you hungry?" she asked again. "Y-yea I am" I responded in a low tone.
She smiled warmly, almost like mom. It made me feel safe. "I'll prepare lunch for you. Until then, why don't you go see your room? And then we can all have lunch together. And surprise surprise you can meet Minjae and Soyeon as well. They'll be back from school soon." she winked. Minjae and Soyeon? Who are these people? Well I guess I'll meet them so we'll have to wait.
"My room?" I asked. "Yes! Your room! It's full of anime characters. Mrs. Jung told us you loved watching Naruto and Dragon Ball so we decorated a room for you." She said as we stepped up the huge staircase. This house sure was big. Wow. My own room? This was new. At the orphanage I was used to sharing a room with 7 other kids.
"Ta-Da!" she said as she opened the door to my new room. "Do you like it?" she asked. "This is really cool" I replied. I must have not seemed that excited as much she had expected because it was visible on her face. "T-Thanks a lot for all of this Mrs. Jeon" I replied as I bowed to her.
She smiled. That warm smile. It makes me feel like home. "It's mom to you. But no forcing. Use it whenever you're ready." She caressed my cheek and left a peck on the left one. "I'll be down in the kitchen. You can wash up and come down and your father will show you around the house or you can rest if you're tired. Okay?" she continued "Just let us know if you want anything and don't worry. You can tell us anything you feel."
I nodded and she left closing the door after her.
New house? Mom? Dad? Is this how it will be? Will I be a part of their family? They seem good people but I don't know them well enough. But, is this how the world works? Am I really supposed to leave everything behind and start new? But I miss my house. What if I end up hurting them too just like I did to Haseol, Mom and Dad?
"Jungkook!! Lunch time!!" It was Mrs. Jeon. I quickly put on a pair of slippers she had given me earlier and walked downstairs. I'll have to get used to this house now. If this is how the world works. Then I will work along with it!
I entered the dining hall to find Mrs. Jeon with two kids. Both of them were younger than me. The girl was wearing a pink dress with two pigtails and looked excited to meet me, she had the same smile as Mrs. Jeon, it made her look beautiful. The boy on the other hand was in grey shorts and a yellow shirt, also had a friendly look.
"Jungkook, meet them. They are your siblings." she turned to both of them. "Kids, introduce yourself." she said.
"Hey! My name is Jeon Soyeon. I'm 6 y/o and I like to draw" she bowed. "H-hey" I smiled back. "I'm Jeon Minjae and I like to eat my mom's food and play with my dad. I hope we get along well." he didn't bow but it didn't really bother me.
"Good to know you both. I'm Jungkook and I like to watch anime. I hope we can be good to each other." I bowed as well.
"Yaay!! So good!" Mrs. Jeon clapped and looked so happy. It made me feel good to see her happy.
"Good to see you all get along" Mr. Jeon said as he laid the plates on the table. "Jungkook did you choose a seat yet for you on the dining table?" he asked.
"You can sit with me! I have good table manners. I'm not like Minjae he is a very messy eater." Soyeon said as she held my hand.
"Oh-okay" I said and started to walk along with her until Minjae spoke up. "Hey soyeon!! I'm not a messy eater! You're just a too neat eater!"
"That's not even a thing Minjae" she argued back.
"Oh it is!"
"It's not"
"it is!!!"
Their banter made me remember Haseol and how we used to argue. It was kinda refreshing. I let out a small giggle. I think I like these people.
All I know at the end of the day is love who you love There ain't no other way If there's something I've learnt from a million mistakes You're the one that I want at the end of the day
