Chapter Thirty Three

[ CHAPTER THIRTY THREE ]
Life is like a Dream

It suddenly seemed to occur to everyone how very illegal James's plan really was. If they were caught there, there would be a lot of trouble. The lily still glowing in the sky, they realised they had to get out of there fast.

"James's invisibility cloak, I think it's still up there!" Lily pointed up at the rooftop she and James had been on one when the others had arrived.

"Brilliant," Sirius quickly legged it back, clambering up with ease.

"There's too many of us and we're too big to all fit," Exie fretted as Remus exchanged a look with Sirius, who was quickly by his side, cloak in hand. Without a word, Sirius handed it to her.

"You and Lily hide under this to get out then try and blend in with the crowds," Sirius instructed.

"But what about you? We should do this together, please don't make me leave - "

"Exie, the teachers will be here soon, you need to keep you and Lily safe," Sirius cut in, "Trust me, I know these rooftops better than anyone and Remus is such a good student he can lie his way out of anything. We'll all be together at the end of this, I promise."

"But... I don't want to lose anymore of you," Her face suddenly crumpled.

Usually Sirius's voice was moody and melodic yet suddenly it was unexpectedly soft, "Me and Remus will be fine but you need to get out of here otherwise this could lead to some serious trouble, alright? It will take more than this to break us up, we're family."

Holding back tears, Exie gave a nod, taking the cloak off of him, "Please be safe."

"Always," Remus saluted as she gave him one last smile before gripping Lily's hand and tossing the cloak over them both. The boys gave her one last wave and when she looked back over her shoulder mere moments later, they'd already vanished. Her tears were all dried up now, replaced by fierce determination all of a sudden.

It seemed Exie's slight emotional delay had cost them dearly: the corridor already filling up with several teachers. Several looked more than ready to clamber onto the roof but were held back by the majority who were desperately trying to get them to wait until one of the higher ups arrived.

"They're surrounding the windows, they'll hear us," Lily whispered fearfully.

Usually it was James and Sirius who solved problems like this, she really wished they were here. Luckily she recalled distraction was a simple but effective tactic; her eyes swiftly scanning around for anything they could use.
