By the time she woke up, Rylee was already out of bed and in the shower. She could hear the water running and wondered how long she'd been in there. Amira sat up in bed and turned on her phone, seeing that she got tagged in a post about an hour ago. She swiped right to open the notification from Instagram and was brought to a picture of herself on Rylee's account. In it, she was sleeping peacefully and the caption for it read, "Thanks for always taking care of me, baby <3 #sleeping # girlfriend #hangover" She double tapped the screen to like the photo and commented two or three double pink heart emojis. Rylee's phone went off twice in the bathroom, momentarily putting a stop to her morning playlist.
Amira pushed herself off the bed and walked on her soft, cream carpet towards the hallway. It was already quarter to eleven, which means they still had about an hour and fifteen minutes alone together before Amira's father returned from work.
The white kitchen floor tiles felt cold under her bare feet, sending a slight shiver up her spine. Her long white pyjama pants with little pink hippos dragged on the floor as she walked towards the fridge, pulling out a carton of eggs. Bacon had been placed on the counter to thaw out and Amira rinsed off a red bell pepper in the sink. She returned again to the fridge to take out some leftover ham and marble cheese, then started cutting both the ham and pepper in tiny, bite-sized pieces. The cheese was pre-shredded so there was no need to do it herself. She turned around towards the stove and opened the cabinets beneath it, taking out two large pans and placing them on the stove.
After cutting open the packaging of bacon, she put the scissors next to the sink and started putting the bacon in the now heated pan. It sizzled and popped as she started cracking and beating eggs with salt and pepper, then pouring the mixture in the other pan. As the eggs were cooking, she added the tiny pieces of ham, pepper and cheese on half of them. Amira flipped the bacon and folded the eggs. When they were ready, she platted them both. With the first omelet done, Amira cracked two more eggs and repeated the process. By the time she was done pouring glasses of milk for her and her girlfriend, Rylee sat down at the island and smiled. She was dressed now but her hair was still wet and slightly in her face. Amira tucked it behind her ear and she blushed, grabbing her plate of food as well as drink and making her way to the living room, turning on the TV. Amira followed and sat down next to her.
"Thanks for making breakfast babe, it smells delicious!" Rylee said, holding up the plate to her face.
"Haha thanks, it's the least I could do for my wonderful guest." Amira said, pecking Rylee on the cheek.
"I'm grateful to have such a talented girlfriend. You can cook amazingly well and you are the most talented photographer I've ever met!~" Rylee said enthusiastically. Amira blushed at the compliment as she took another bite of her omelette. She waited to swallow before responding,
"I'm not THAT good at photography, I just take pictures for fun. It does help that I have such a beautiful model though," Rylee posed humouredly and Amira laughed, almost choking on her milk.

They continued to fool around that morning until her father came home. The girls had cleaned up before then and the dishes from that morning had been washed and put away. They stayed in the living room a while longer, binge watching Netflix and cuddling with each other. Her mother returned home around four and they were still on the couch, with Rylee sleeping on her shoulder. Amira's mother smiled and kissed her head as she passed them to change out of her work clothes. Rylee woke up during the middle of a family movie and Amira smiled down at her. Supper was ready and her parents had already eaten but she had waited for Rylee to wake up so they could eat together. The girls got up and warmed up their plates in the microwave. They ate at the dining room table and when finished, they washed their dishes, retreating to her room afterwards. Her birthday was coming up soon and they had to make plans for it. Apparently, Rylee had a special gift for her, something that she would really like. But what was it?
