Up he flew towards the heavens,

Ever reaching as his fingers touched sun.

Yet as his wings brushed up against fire's bloom,

They melted.

Fiery embrace proven too much,

The fool fell,

Dragged into the waves.

It all started in December, sharp and cold winds biting his wings and face leaving his pale skin numb and flushed with the frost that met him as he flew above Musutafu, Japan. His hero outfit, although providing much warmth and comfort, could only stand weakly against the harsh bitterness of winter. Especially with him so high in the sky, yet he remained triumphant above it all, it was his duty as a hero. The watchful hawk that was the eyes for all, predator of the rodents that scurried in the dark. Filth searching for victims to torment and feed off of. The scum of the Earth in his eyes, villains. They had always set him off, making way for multiple mishaps within his usual easygoing life. All for their own selfish reasons that he could neither support nor sympathize with. Yet even with his distaste towards the villains' actions he did, at times, find his heart swayed by their words of anguish. For at that time he recognized that even they were victims of the cruel world in which they inhabited. But life had always been a harsh battle, not every life can be saved and it was up to Hawks to focus on the lives of those who hadn't been tainted by hatred.

His mind wandered until his feet hit solid ground and he peered down from upon the rooftop, leather soles touching frozen concrete. The hum of motors and the steady flow of conversation greeted him, a soft symphony creeping its way into his ears. Burning its presence within his mind and the hero smiled softly, this is what he had to protect.
