"Please enlighten me, whose ludicrous idea was it that we go to the beach again?" Weiss asked no one in particular, seemingly unamused. He floated aimlessly around Nier as he unfolded four colorful towels onto the scorching hot sand.
"Can it, paperback." Kainé scoffed, rolling her eyes at Weiss' rhetorical question.
Weiss gasped, insulted by the scantily clad woman's retort, "PAPERBACK? Why you hussy… I'll have you know, I am the great Grimoire Weis-"
"Yeah yeah we know, you pompous ass." Kainé cut Weiss off before he could continue. Weiss made a hissing sound as though he had more to say, but decided not to engage any further.
Nier was the one who had suggested the idea of going to the beach. Emil and Yonah had agreed before Nier could even finish asking, whereas Kainé and Weiss had remained skeptical. Weiss had protested, unrelenting in his opposition, but Kainé eventually lightened up on the idea.
Nier had finished laying the towels out on the sand, and was currently working on setting up an umbrella.
"Yonah, don't forget to put sunscreen on." Nier reminded his daughter. His voice was gruff despite his words being amiable.
Yonah nodded, reaching into a bag and pulling out the sunscreen. Yonah wore a light blue one piece swimsuit, at the bottom of which was a frilly skirt, her waist adorned with a large white bow. She applied the sunscreen as her father requested without complaint, leaving a tiny white
blob on the bridge of her nose. Nier looked at his daughter, chuckling slightly and smiling, to which she returned a toothy grin.Yonah turned to Emil, holding the bottle in her hand still, "Hey, Emil, did you need some sunscre-," She cut herself off as she realized what she was saying, "nevermind".
Emil tilted his skeletal head slightly in bewilderment, his permanently plastered on smile unwavering. He simply shrugged when Yonah didn't continue her question, going back to
unloading his plastic shovels and pails.Instead of his regular attire, Emil was draped in a brightly striped green and blue towel, flip-flops dangling loosely on his feet as he hovered above the ground.
Kainé plopped down on one of the towels Nier had put down, folding her hands behind her head and kicking one leg up onto her knee. She let out a relaxed sigh as she closed her eyes,
basking in the sun's warmth. Her peace was short lived though, because as soon as Weiss opened his nonexistent mouth she would no doubt become livid."You know, Kainé," Weiss' tone was scornful when he spoke her name, "that swimsuit you're wearing covers you more than your usual attire. You should consider a modest approach more often, hmmm?" Weiss trailed off. It sounded as though he was trying to provoke her, and it certainly worked.
Kainé's swimsuit was in fact more modest than her regular lingerie, yet that really wasn't saying much. She wore a bikini with lunar tears printed in an array of patterns, but the cut was rather provocative, and she still had her arm and leg wrappings on.
"You fucker, why don't I turn you into a water logged book by throwing you into the ocean. Or here's another idea, how about I slather your pages one by one in sunscreen?" Kainé suggested aggressively, her face turning a shade of deep crimson. She clenched her fists at her sides as she stood up, starting towards Weiss and grabbing two of Emil's pool noodles along the way.
Weiss evaded Kainé's attacks as she slashed at him with her dual wielded pool noodles. She was growing frustrated as Weiss diverted her blows. She stumbled slightly as the loose sand enveloped her feet, causing her to lose her balance. She fell over and landed with a thud,
sprawling out in an awkward position as Weiss cackled mockingly.
