Getting out of bed used to be hard to do. My alarm would sound and I would hit snooze for an extra ten minutes of sleep.

That was four years ago, now when my alarm would sound, I would hit dismiss and get out of my warm bed and go to my son.

Oliver came about when I got way to drunk and slept with random girl that was at the club. When I sobered up I, for some reason that I don't know, kept in touch with that random. Only because I felt bad, I didn't like her nor did I 'love' her, I'm gay.

A month or so after our drunken slumber she informed me, she was pregnant with my baby. At first I didn't believe her but she insisted that I was the only one who she slept with. I still don't believe her but Oliver looks like me so I never pushed it. It doesn't matter if he is mine or not, I love that boy.

Ollie's mother was taken from him. She overdosed when he was two, I've asked her so many times to quit and she was doing good for a couple months but then she drifted away til slowly she was no more. Ollie doesn't ask about his mum, I doubt he even remembers her.

I went into Oliver's room and woke him up. Saturday is our day to do whatever. He was off school; I was off work, it's, our day. An on our day we go for ice cream, or the movies, or the park. Waking him up so we can have said day is pain though but it was already eleven and he had to get up.

"Ollie, wake up. It's our day!" I said already getting excited, I wait all week for today because I get to spend the whole day with my son!

Oliver rolled over to his side and rubbing his eyes, then pulling his train covered blanket up to his chin and yawning, "Daddy, snuggles." as his eyes began to drift shut again.

I chuckle but climb in his bed next to him. He turned over, putting his head along with his whole body on my chest. I wrapped my arms around his little body and set my head on his. "Just a couple more minutes, then time to have fun." He nodded snuggling his head into my chest.

I held my child and thought, for the few extra minutes I gave him. When his mother first told me I was excited and worried all at the same time. When I told my parents they were upset and excited, they didn't 'disown' me like everyone says your parents will when you get a girl pregnant and you aren't married.

They let us stay with them til I found a well paying job, and a decent apartment. When he was born however, they told me to stay with them to forget moving to the apartment. I think, to state the obvious, it was because they wanted to see their grandson all the time. When he turned two, we moved into this apartment. I was getting tired of my parents hovering and telling me I was raising my child wrong.

I tried to wake Oliver up again around eleven thirty and to no prevail did he wake.

I set him on his bed, got up and went to his dresser. If he wasn't going to get up, I will dress him and bring him out to the living room. I picked jeans and a T-shirt that said 'I would rather be sleeping', since that's all he seems to want to do. I also, grabbed a random pair of socks.

Then walking over to my son and dressed him. I pulled off his spiderman pajama pants and put on his jeans and his socks. Making him sit up, I took off the matching pajama top and put on the T-shirt. His eyes were half open due to him being half awake, he rubbed them with closed fists and yawned. I take him into the bathroom, fix his light brown hair, and brush his teeth. We are going to his favorite restaurant to eat, and because he's four its McDonald's.

He was wide awake by now and babbling about what he wanted to do, I listened as he put on his shoes. They were velcro, so no need for tying them.

"Maybe we go to the park and we play all day, and get ice cream." He rambled, I smiled grabbing my keys.
